Glad I just saw this, Mike - I forgot and was planning on heading down.
Hello everyone. Just a couple of reminders, as this email contained many items.
- 12/17 (tomorrow) is the swim-a-thon. A lane will be open at 9:15 for Masters and perhaps some of the faster Marauders. Plan to swim straight through to 100 or 200 lengths of the pool, as the event takes 2 hours. I will be able to get there a little before 10. Please bring a donation for the swim team to help them with this fundraiser. The pool will be open to Masters from 11:15-11:55 for an on-your-own workout.
- MAU swim team meets are posted and will alter our practice times on Tuesday nights. They usually finish the meets around 8pm, so I will not be writing workouts on those nights.
- A reminder from the Rec Center - please be sure that you are taking a shower before entering the pool. Especially during the winter time and our enhanced moisturizing regimens, it is important to be wet before getting in the pool. Thanks for helping to ensure that we are setting a good example for the other folks that use the pool.
...mike...
Hello everyone,
The One Hour Swim will be held in two weeks, Saturday, February 11th. Plan to arrive and warm-up a bit. I will begin the swim at 10:45, and as in years past you can choose to swim it in
any manner that you would like (straight through, with breaks for water, all kick/pull/stroke, etc.). It's a great challenge that everyone has conquered in the past, so I am looking forward to seeing a good turnout again this year as I record your progress
from the side of the pool. (There will be another option to swim towards the end of April for anyone unable to make it).
On a non-swimming note, Greg will be joining a group for a trip to Kenya and is leaving in a couple of weeks. One of the items that the group is trying to bring and leave there are balls (soccer, playground, volleyball). If you happen to have one around the house that can be deflated and would like to send it to Africa, please bring it in to the Rec by our practice on this coming Saturday. Also, if you have a small ball pump with needle, Greg can make good use of it, too.
See you all soon at the Rec.
Winter weather is upon us, so be sure to join the team in the water to help make the days pass quickly! Practices have been well attended and some great swimming has been happening. Here are some
updates to take into consideration...
Thanks, Mike. A few balls are sure to bring big smiles to a bunch of kids in Kenya.
I'll do my 1-hour this Saturday, so wish me luck...
Hi Carol, thanks so much. I was really only thinking of gathering up old balls that people had lying around or from Goodwill and so on. But if you feel moved to get a nice new one, I'm sure kids will be really psyched about that; and it should be possible to let the air out and then pump it back up over there. See you tonight? Or Sat?
