Greetings from Vermont!

I am pleased to announce that our local masters squad will be hosting a USMS recognized mini meet again this year at the end of April.  We were very excited by the turnout and all-around good time last year, and have teamed up with the local age group team, the Bennington Marauders, to continue a competitive swimming event for adults in southwestern Vermont!

Please find the attached entry form with more specific information.  The events are the same as last year, although in a different order.  We will again be offering two relays and two fun "sprint" events, which will be deck seeded.  Other "regular" events will pre-seeded based on entry times.

Please contact me if you have any questions or would like more information.  If you are a swim coach, kindly pass this info on to your swimmers in order to help us get the word out about our event.  Last year many folks stayed in the area and visited our historic area (including the three covered bridges within 15 miles of the pool) and great local restaurants.  We encourage making this a great familt day trip that just happens to include some swimming as well!

One stroke at a time ...

Mike,

I have put you on my calendar with hopes to help time for the meet. I know KC (my daughter) enjoyed doing it last year, so I think I can recruit her too!

I am assuming that the Rec Center is having lifeguards staffing the meet at no cost, but if you have to pay....then let me know. KC just got certified, and as a Town employee I can twist some arms and get you lifeguards!!!

Will you need refreshments too? If we can attend, I'd be willing to bake some treats.

Hello, everyone! I hope you have been enjoying the taper workouts over the past few sessions. More rest means more fast efforts!

An update:

- 15 swimmers signed up right now. Last year we had 23, I am guessing around 35 this year. Did you sign up yet? :D

- Gail mentioned some baked goods. Last year we had oranges and bagels with some juice, I think. As a nice gesture for folks coming in, how about doing the same this year. Maybe muffins, cupcakes, cookies, etc. We need to refuel after working hard! Reply to this message (all) so we have an idea of the what is coming. I will get a bag of oranges and cut the up.

- Kinda cool- there are four people interested in swimming at the meet, and plan on flying into the local airport! They are looking for a ride to the pool and back so they can complete, then fly on to NH. I will be too busy to help, but I offer my van if someone is willing to get them. Please let me know, as it is a sure way to bulk up our numbers and allow more rest between events!

TEN days away!

...mike...

Mike,

I had hoped to be at Saturday's meet to help time/bring muffins. Unfortunately I need to be out-of-town. My apologies :(

I'm good for a dozen muffins - and can help out with an airport run. Maybe one of us can pick up and another can drop off? I'm a bit intimidated, though. People who fly to swim meets sound pretty serious!

Haha. I am not sure if intimidation is needed.  :)

Like a lot of masters, including me, finding a place to swim while on a weekend getaway is a nice treat.  I always have a suit and goggles in my motorcycle bag.

Lena said she can drive, so I'll email the party back to let them know and we'll work out the details.

Greetings from Vermont!

I am pleased to announce that our local masters squad will be hosting a USMS recognized mini meet again this year at the end of April. We were very excited by the turnout and all-around good time last year, and have teamed up with the local age group team, the Bennington Marauders, to continue a competitive swimming event for adults in southwestern Vermont and western New England!

Please find the attached entry form with more specific information. We will again be offering two relays and two fun "sprint" events, which will be deck seeded, with the addition of 25's of EACH stroke after the last relay because, well, we're Masters and we can swim 25's if we want to! Other "regular" events will be pre-seeded based on entry times, so kindly enter a time for SCY. Please note that our meet this year is being held the same weekend as USMS Spring Nationals in San Antonio.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like more information. If you are a swim coach or swim with a group, I would appreciate it if you would pass this info on to your swimmers in order to help us get the word out about our event. Last year after the lane lines were reeled back up, many folks stayed in town and visited our historic area (including the three covered bridges within 15 miles of the pool and the tallest structure in VT, our beloved Monument) and delicious local restaurants. We encourage making this a great family day trip that just happens to include some swimming as well (I personally love when that happens)!  A great excuse to get out of lawn work for another weekend, too!
