It is indeed a pleasure to share the details of a mega event that all of us are waiting for: 26th Biennial Conference of the Asian Association for Biology Education (AABE) at Goa, India.
The 26th Biennial Conference of the AABE to be held in Goa, India from September 20-23, 2016 has ‘Trends in Biology Education and Research: Practices and Challenges’ as its theme. The challenges today in Biology education have roots in education policies that largely resulted in alienation of teachers who otherwise could be active contributors for improving the educational outcomes. Networking between school/college teachers and scientists from higher research centers could facilitate to address questions in Biology Education and Research, on an ongoing basis, resulting in cutting edge Biology Education Research in the future. Hence, the focus of this conference is to bring about collaboration among all the above stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region.
The AABE is a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to the advancement of biology education and the dissemination of information relating to biology education. AABE’s principal office address is: Philippine Science High School System, Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines 1104. The first AABE conference was organised in 1966 at Manila, Philippines and 12th AABE was organized in India on December 1988 at Delhi. AABE’s lead journal, "The Asian Journal of Biology Education" (Asian J. Biol. Educ.) is published electronically with ISSN 1447-0209. The Journal may be accessed on http://www.aabe.sakura.ne.jp. The journal and the conference proceedings are indexed and archived at UNESCO.
This 26th Biennial conference is organized by the AABE, India Chapter & Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer & Management, Goa; in collaboration with Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai; Rayat Education Society, Satara; Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati, Association of Teachers in Biological Sciences, India; St. Ann's College for Women, Hyderabad and the International Centre, Goa, India.
