Borshoboron and Rabindrajayanti: Call for Performances

Shubho noboborsho!!

We wish you all a very happy new year. May this new year bring you joy and happiness. Hope everyone is doing well.

We are very happy to announce that we Bengalis in Chicago (BiC) is going to host the much-anticipated Borshoboron (New Year celebration) event along with Rabindra Jayanti on May 24^th, 2025, at the UIC campus. We will have an evening full of cultural performances followed by the mouth watering bengali bhuribhoj (borshoboron dinner).

 Please reply to this email if you are interested in participating in the cultural program by May 18^th, 2025.

In the reply, please mention your full name, type of performance, and the duration of the performance. Please note that for this event we would like to encourage different kinds and genres of recitations/songs/dances/skit performances with the theme of Bengali New Year and/or a tribute to Rabindranath Tagore. If you have any interesting ideas, please feel free to share.

The final duration, day, and scheduling of performance will be based on the sole discretion of the BIC committee. We might request to change performance duration, depending upon the number of participants. The committee will decide the slot for the performances, once we have the entire list. If you have any slot issues, you can contact us via email, and we will try our best to incorporate your request. Keep in mind that only valid and in case of an emergency, requests will be considered for slot/time change.   

Please remember, even if you have told someone from the BIC committee in person, please reply to this email so we can enter your name in the final list of performances.

We would also like to inform you that full registration for the event is required if you are participating in the cultural program. Our registration details will be posted on our website and social media handles soon. In the case of kids, full registration with one parent is mandatory.

This is a reminder for performances that you would like to present on the auspicious celebration on May 24th. Kindly remember, the final registration day for any performance is May 20th. 

If you are interested, kindly reply to this email with your Full Name, type of Performance and the Duration of your performance.

If your performance requires any backing musical track, kindly email it to us at your earliest convenience so that everything is smooth and hassle free.
