Hello all, I have a question thats somewhat embarassing. The previous
owner of my boat had a special oil measuring device put in and not
sure how it works, it says oil is perfect but I'd like to see for
myself but I can't find the dipstick.... I would very much appreciate
anyones help on this...

thanks !

The oil dipstick should be on the left side of the engine. It is located
about mid-way lengthwise.

The dipstick on my 2001 3GM30F is on the starboard side, just above the oil
pan, fairly low on the block, just ahead and below the fuel pump. The
dipstick on a 2006 3GM30 I just looked at has the dipstick coming out the
front of the engine , starboard side, above the fresh water pump

I thought it was on the starboard side too as I have the yanmar CD but
I couldnt find it, might not have looked low enough and the pictures
from the manual must had been faxed from far far away... mine is a
1999 B361. Does it have a colorcoded marker such as the oil refil cap
and the transmission dipstick ?

thanks Pat and Michael for info !

Mine is just a standard wire loop dipstick same color as block, about 4 or
so inches protruding from block. Small access door on starboard engine
compartment just inside starboard aft berth, door also used for priming fuel
pump provides access.

Mine is on starboard, lower middle section as described previously.
2001 , 331.
I have a round access hatch on the aft cabin with direct access to the
dip stick.

Of course you are correct the dipstick is on the right side. I did realize my
error, but for some reason my follow-up message failed to post correctly.

My dipstick has a yellow handle.

Gaute - maybe part (sensor) of the special oil measuring device replaced the
dipstick.

I will check next time I go down there, you might be right that it
will look different. It seems most here access it from the rear panel
so I'll look more closely low on the right side.

thank you all !

Mine had a yellow handle too, it was under the engine as you all
described but also shadowed by the device and the engine vent.. very
hard to get to so now I understand why the reader was installed. its
accurate so I'll sort of trust the thing...

thanks to all !
