I had an Oceanis 390 with keel bolts in similar condition.  I pondered replacing them.

I contacted Beneteau.  They have a paper about these type keel bolts and how to replace them.  Get a copy from Beneteau.  It would be a difficult and expensive job.

After consulting with several marine experts, I reached a conclusion to not replace.  Net, if they don't leak and the keel is secure in the boat, don't do anything.  I kept them clean and painted to inhibit further deterioration.

It does not look like there are any leaks around your keel bolts.  If there is no water intrusion, I wouldn't do a thing.  They may look bad, but they are doing their job.

Thank you for your advice. You are right there is no leak.Seawater don't get in to bilge from bolts hole.
I asked local dealer of beneteau in Turkey about replacement procedure document but they didn't give back answer.(I live Antalya/TURKEY)
Asked beneteau usa they said local dealer can help :( I couldn't have replacement procedure yet.

I spoke some marina expert they said bolts must be chance with drop keel and cost is about 2500euro.

I believe the document's name is "Replacing Rusty\ed Keelboats" that was e-mailed from BeneteauUSA customer service.  Basically, for keel bolts in that condition, it called to stabilize the keel, drill out the old keel bolts, lift the boat off the keel, rebed keel/hull, install new bolts.  Again, my advice:  if it's not leaking, don't do it.

Interesting they say remove the keel! I've just replaced the keel bolts on my 1985 First 345.

There's a full thread on it here

Basically remove on bolt at a time with an impact wrench, clean up & insert new bolt then torque up. Beneteau say it can even be done in the water.

Took me about 6 hours all in but not a difficult job and a huge piece of mind. New ones from Beneteau are stainless steel.

Old bolts looked worse than they were ...almost pristine when removed. The washers will corrode before the bolts do.

hi Antalya,

Just an FYI, if you go onto ybw.com, in the forums, I had a series of questions and pictures I took about my boat and keel bolts, and got a lot of feedback on this subject. You may want to check that out.

The link to that forum thread is:  http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?435336-1980-s-Beneteau-Keel-bolts-does-this-sound-right

I am "brccd" in the threads!

Hope this helps.
Bert

Hi -

I'm new here, with a new-to-me 1986 First 305. FWIW - I just had my keel bolts replaced yesterday with parts ordered from Beneteau USA. Some bolt heads were downright scary, but threads were good as so many posts around the'net state. This job got done with the boat in the water, and some help from an impact wrench and a breaker bar. Everything was anti-seized, torqued to spec and I'll re-torque after a few months.

Now on to less scary things like sorting non-working navigation lights, and getting the stereo working. This place looks to be a great resource - so thank you!

I did order the bolts from Ward at Beneteau. After inspecting the bolts - I decided not do the work myself. Took my guy about 5 hours. Torqued to 160#.
