Greatness Is Not In Where We Stand, But In What Direction We
Are Moving. We Must Sail Sometimes With The Wind And Sometimes Against It---But
Sail We Must, And Not Drift, Nor Lie At Anchor"

a bow sprit is about gaining separation and increasing the Js....a code 0 sail is a flying sail, one that has a free flying luff other than that is not too different from "drifters" which had attached luffs... it is a rule bender which allows an oversized jib to be used, by allowing it to be measured as a spinnaker and not affect the handicap by having an over sized jib. I have not looked at the numbers for the B-50, adding a small sprit may NOT create much of a gain in either sail area or performance... Looking only at the quoted sail area of 1440 sq ft, seems rather small gain over the normal J... makes me think that the cost and effort to add a sprit may not reap the expected dividends. Adding a code 0 using current tack and increasing the overlap should yield a similar sized sail without any modifications to the boat's ring and hardware. Run the numbers and check in with your local handicapper about the rules when using a code 0...some areas have restrictions or penalties for having both std spinnaker and asymmetric spinnaker or code 0
