I just replaced the wind direction vane and bearing assembly and speedo cups and bearing assembly parts at the mast head for this wind speed/direction unit after 17 years of service . The unit is operating at the top of the mast, but giving unusual information on the read out. Checking it today using my remote Autohelm repeater unit I am getting full data out on the Sea Talk bus. The problem seems to be the wind angle vane is reading off by180 degrees. It does not correct by the initialization 2 X 360 turning on a power up. I have also tried adjusting the wind angle indicator needle on the display using the calibration instructions – this does not resolve the problem. Recommendations are requested. Does anyone know this device well technically or have a service location who might help. Raymarine is not of any help – not a supported product today.

It is my understanding that the ST50 mast head will operate with a ST 50 and St 60 read out however the ST 60 mast head will not operate correctly with a ST 50 read out. It does not sound like the parts you replaced should have any effect on the electronics. I sent my mast head to Raymarine and they repaired it under the flat rate price. It was a ST 50 head and it operates a ST 60 read out.
Suggestion, if you could get a ST 60 read out and plugged it in, you would soon know if that was the problem, if you are changed out to ST 60, I have two or three of the adapters to change the seatalk from round to flat connectors, let me know the price will right about “ free”.
