All:  Have OC351 and currently have  GPS Raymarine 835 .. placed on pedestal.  Am up in air abt which unit (C70/C80) to purchase as I want it next to my GPS.  C80 is considerably larger but haven't seen the C70.  Those that own one, is the monitor so small that it's hard to see the resolution?  Am getting radar only.  The C80 will fit on pedestal but it's more "stuff" in front of me when sailing.  Would rather go smaller but not if resolution is hard to read.  I sail strictly in the Chesapeake ... thanks!

I use a C80 as a radar & chartplotter.  When I looked at them, I decided that the C80 was the smallest I could actually use.  The C70 was just too small.  Don't know if using it for radar only would change that.

well, if you're sailing, then you're not looking at the pedestal but at the tell tales and around and probably sitting on one side or another.  Get largest that will fit (and you can afford)

I have the C70 which I use for radar and chartplotter. Certainly, the larger the better  however, the 70 has been very acceptable for me even in my advanced age.

Paul, I also have 2 c70s on my 473 – one at helm and one at nav station.  Not sure what the “advanced age” referred to by Bob below actually is, but at 62 and bifocals, I still see it just fine.

Paul,

I just returned from a delivery of a new boat equipped with E80's at both the nav station and the helm. Radar and Sirius weather was all integrated. Fabulous! Especially being able to watch and track the late afternoon thunderstorms in near real time.

Paul,

I’ll echo Bill here. We have a pair of E80s and they are a dramatic improvement over the old RL70 display. BTW: If you are considering adding another display below in the future, go with the E series. The C series cannot be networked, even like the old RLx0 radars and the chartplotters can.

Thx Bill ... ended up w/the C80 .. in fact it gets installed tomorrow.  Went w/the larger display.  Got caught in that killer storm a week ago Tue at night just north of Annapolis headed to Rock Hall ... surprised I'm still married .. gusts up to 70 mph ... hopefully this radar will assist in tracking storms.  Went w/radar only as my GPS is new last year and have had no problems.  Anxious to go night sailing w/the radar.

Paul,

We were tracking that storm as we docked down at Solomon's. Glad you came through it OK. You need the Sirius sensor and subscription to make that work but I was very impressed with the capability.
