Hi,
Just purchased a 2000 B411 and currently doing "shakedown cruise".
Wow! Lots to learn as previous boat did not have all the toys that
this one does!
Anyway, any ideas where we might find the fluxgate compass and
autopilot control box????

Lisa,
Congrats on the new boat!!! I hope you enjoy her as much as I have mine.

On my 2000 B411 it is inside the starboard side stern locker. The control box is screwed to the bulkhead and the flux gate compass is aft of the rudder post.

Cheers,

Lisa,

Ours are in the aft starboard lazarette.  In the worst case take up the cover over the steering cables and follow the wires from the rudder position transmitter.

Best regards,

Likely in the center of the boat if it was installed correctly - the ends of the boat are susceptible to pitch and yaw. It should be a black box with a dome thing on it

Or sometimes they are installed in hanging lockers - a terrible location due to wire hangers showing up later, etc.

I was surprised to see some responses saying they were in stern lockers because of affects of yaw. Also those locations can be prone to having heavy metalic items (spare anchors, tool bags, portable generators, outboards) stowed in them.

Mark,
We have 2 411's in the family and both have the flux gate compass in the stern almost under the swim platform.

On our 473 it is in the port aft cabin locker. We have been having problems with wacky offset but after mooving a portable heater and replacing wire hangers with plastic, all is well. However, we do find that the deviation has to be updated yearly or more frequently.

Last Monday we did the deed on our way back from Annapolis. That's when I discovered the heater!
