We have a 2010 Beneteau Oceanis 40. Somewhere on the boat is a switch to operate the propane solenoid valve. I just don't know where it is. It should be somewhere in the galley.
If you have a clue as to its location, please send it my way. I have looked high and low.

When powered, the solenoid valve permits gas to flow to the stove. I know the switch exists on the boat and I know it's functional. The stove was lit during the survey and the solenoid valve held pressure. As we were underway at the time I didn't see where the switch was located. My surveyor no longer remembers its location, the survey was a year ago.

I've been unable to reach the former owner. I have the manual from Beneteau but it doesn't give a location for the switch. Power should originate from the 12 V panel. All of the panel switches are in use for other things. The switch labeled "spare" doesn't operate the solenoid valve.

Thank you

Same boat. 2 cabin arrangement. Standing at the sink to the right, under the cabinet backing the electrical panel is the solenoid control. I push the button all the way to the left.

Thank you all for your help. The switch was on the 12 volt panel as you described. It's labeled as "Spare" on our boat.

What was happening is the snubber diode located near the propane solenoid was wired incorrectly. When the circuit was energized it provided a direct short to ground which popped the breaker. The band on the diode wants to be connected to the positive lead. It was connected to the negative lead. When connected correctly the solenoid is making the right sounds and the breaker is staying on.

Again, thank you all for your input. It helped me zero in on the problem.

Happy sails.

Hi

I'm glad that I was able to point you in the right direction, and yes you are correct it was labelled spare, prior to re-labbeling it to Propane.

We bought our 2011 (7) years ago from LA...we truly love our vessel.

All we need now is for the snow to melt and for the temps to rise.

Happy Sailing

I have question, does anyone knows where is the braker or fuse for the amber night light that is located on the bottom of the companion steps which stays on all the time.

We replaced that amber "night light" on our OC381, I know it was switched but I don't recall where the switch was - I know it was an obscure one (was it one of the white square light switches by the nav?  I don't remember). We replaced with LED rope lighting that we put underneath the front lip of the seats to light the footwell area - same effect at night to give you some safety lighting when returning to the cabin - with low battery drae

My 2014 37’ Oceanis came with a key fob to turn companion way and stern cock pit lights on and off. Has a timer function as well.

Thank you and please contact me with any questions.

This is how the propane solenoid diode is wired. Note the silver band on the diode is on the positive wire. The diode is wired in parallel with the solenoid.

This is sometimes called a flyback diode or a snubber diode. I purchased the diode from Amazon in a 20 pack. It's rated at 10 amp and 50 volts.

This was located near the propane solenoid but was wired incorrectly. It's working great now. Thanks for all your help.
