My 1994 Oceanis 351 has several defective latches. They are the finger-breaker sort that are hidden in behind a hole and reached by poking a finger through.

I've looked around and cannot find a source.

Ideas?

I have been looking for these as well, and have had no luck!! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Have you checked Beneteau spare parts?

I removed a few and reset them, over time the fasteners come loose or the latch falls out of position.  If the screw hole becomes stripped I used a wooden golf tee to repair. It becomes brand new wood to screw into. Works on the cabinet door hinges as well.

Best,

Nope.  Where/how is that?  I checked several other places.

As for fixing, two have broken springs that would be hard to replace and
one has a worn latch face.

I'd buy three.

Looks like it.  That is the most unfriendly site I've seen, and I've seen lots.

Front page is simply a sign-in. From the video, they expect me to fill in all sorts of details before I even find out if they have the parts. I don't even know them and am not sure I want to until I see if they have what I want.  I'll bet after all that form filling, they won't, or the form will crash because it does not like my address.

Is there any other source?

Allen,

Now you got me going..... this thing has been, well let's  say challenging.

I in no way can say that I have a high confidence level, but I just went and searched through again, Beneteau Parts Again, and again,  I had no luck... I have a 42S7, and in my aft cabin the battery switches have two cabinet doors, one of which opens into your face forcing you to all the way into the cabin to check your oil, or view the switches. I removed that half of the door, and borrowed the catch from it.

I am presently holding the "weak" push catch in my hand, as I keep on my desk for a moment such as this. There is no part number on it, it is a cheap piece of plastic with a spring that quite frankly defies description to a non-Beneteau specific model person.
Hey, why not send a picture?

Is this it? If it is, I wish you better luck than I have had!!!
:-)

Hehehe. They are pretty poor and the (w)hole idea is a finger breaker.  Just the same, I need three.

I wonder if a boat wrecker somewhere has them.  I am sure that there are many, many wrecked Beneteaus of that vintage in the Caribbean.

Is there a used boat parts chandler online?

If we give up on the replacement idea, it occurs to me that the latch
could be roved and some sort of toggle or friction latch inside might be
a suitable replacement, leaving the hole as a 'handle'.

If no solutions are found, I may start looking for a suitable candidate.

These are available online at Beneteau. I know there is a lot of information that you need to give them in order to get a sign in account but it is worth it. I did not see the latches in the 42s7 but I have a 36.7 and they show it in that area. I have attached the photo from the Beneteau website. Part number is 011967 and list price is $20.81. Looks like the same latches I had on the First 310 also.

Good Luck,

Wow

What was in your corn flakes
Today

The Beneteau on line parts is pretty good. Better than the Swan or Oyster parts sight!!

Just register and set up the shipping address etc.

They have boat specific pages and then a common parts page. Pages of schematics.

You can check inventory and prices on line. They Give you a discount on parts bought online.

The part you are looking for is a common part to about twenty models, they will have.

It sells for about $3.50

Try it, you might like it.

Or you can go to salvage yard in the BVI’s at 15.00 plus freight.

If same prob as mine...it’s the plasti cylinder button broken...I couldn’t find parts of any kind either....took mine apart and It’s such a simple mechanism....made a new button from wooden Dowel proper diam ...made a slit w hacksaw to fit dowel piece over steel  push rods and it now works adequately for me.

No more guests getting locked in the head! If I ever see black plastic dowels somewhere,.,,I will change to that.

If it is these (and these look very similar to the Beneteau ones) then online they are called "push button cabinet latches"

Thanks everyone.  Yup, it is the grey plastic one wit the flat push plate.

I'll have to try to order, with the understanding that I live in Canada and I am currently on my boat in Mexico.  Let's hope their forms are up to it.

I went to the Beneteau site, filled in the forms, and sent the form, received the 'form sent' message and then nothing has happened.

Is this normal?  Most sites send a confirmation immediately.

Have patience

It has worked well for me for 14 years.

Is it perfect no, but far better than nothing.

Btw - it ain’t a perfect world

I can’t get replacement part for my 10 year old expensive range.

Far better than anything the government does.

Today I got the login credentials but have not visited the site, seeing as you say there is no stock.

Any indication if and when there will be stock?

I doubt they are in production--or ever will be again.

I just ordered 3. They are not in stock.

I would place the order. They already have an order for 3, I would ASSume that they are more apt to move with a second order. For three it was $20. Thats another 2 months before I can order my Ferrari, but I figured Id spin the wheel.

I just got an invoice and a tracking number, from Beneteau so thanks to the person who provided the part number and those who said to have faith.  The parts are shipped.

Now, I am still looking for the description and part number for the white flaps that cover the windlass switches on the deck near the chain locker.

Anyone know what they are called or have a number?
