Couple thoughts:* Boat stands - our marina actually "sounds" the hull, like a surveyor would, to locate the strong points to position the jacks* Water vs land storage - land storage gives the boat a chance to dry out - yes, it actually does; we've taken moisture readings immediately after haul out and just before painting the bottom for the next season. There is a substantial difference. Less moisture should reduce the chance of blisters.Brian W.s/v Toujours (Beneteau First 405 Hull #104)

Hello allSo, I am just purchasing a 2005 Beneteau Oceanis 473. She is in Croatia. I am trying to decide whether to have her remain in storage on the hard or to put her back in her slip. The current owner will watch over her carefully until I arrive at the end of March 2018 to pick her up.So, first i wanted to know whether people think that the boat stands have been correctly positioned by the yard and whether another set of boat stands should be added. (I don't have the manual yet).I have attached 2 pics to show boat stand current positions. Also, I am wondering what people think of dry vs wet storage...have heard that some people think that in dry storage the mast can put undue pressure on a specific point in the hull, rather than being dispersed as when the hull is evenly 'held' by the ocean...While others are concerned that the bottom will grow impossibly covered by sea life---and I will just have to pull her again and have the bottom painted again...4 months sooner...The owners have kept her in the water for most of her life. They live nearby and love the boat and I am confident that they would be extremely wary of any leakage etc...so presuming that is ok what is better dry dock or wet slip?It gets pretty windy there so there is some chance (slim I hope) that the boat is overturned because of additional windage, while of course she could also be damaged in the slip by a high-wind storm...on the other hand the sea weed and even barnacles seem to grow relatively quickly there--around the 75th percentile i am guessing in terms of speed of sea-growth.Thanks very much for your time, thoughts and ideas...mk

Not sure what your weather is like, sounds like you don't need to worry about freezing temps but everything you mentioned is good stuff to do. I usually do it in the spring before putting the boat back in the water. Ensuring the fuel tank is full & some kind of additive is in there are good things to do as well. On our old boat I would disconnect the batteries on this one I just flipped the red and black switches in the back stateroom, but make sure your batteries are charged up before you do that.
If its on the hard now it might be hard to get a pump out so make sure that is treated & you probably want to drain your fresh water tanks. Up to you if you want to flush with a bleach or vinegar mixture prior to using in the spring. You may want one of those dampness/mildew removers in there while your gone. We cover ours so I usually leave a couple hatch slightly open to ensure some level of air circulation. I would also take the sails and any canvas off and store down below.
Thanks very much---she is far away from me unfortunately--in Med...while i am in LA....these are great suggestions but will have to come as Spring cleaning ...thanks
