The microwave on my 2003 B331 died this weekend. The clock still works. The fan still runs. It just doesn't heat.

The microwave appears to be attached to a board in the cabinet. I thought I could go into the lazarette, remove the hatch to the compartment under it which also holds the AC/heater, and unscrew the board/microwave and pull it out. No such luck. No signs of screws that hold it in place.

Has anyone replaced their microwave?

I did it in a 361 down through the port cockpit lazarette.  The box that holds the microwave is in the forward part of that space.  If your layout is similar, it is a big job.  The box was screwed and glued together.  Took a long time to realize that I was going to have to break open the glued seams on the box.  Also, the mounting of the new unit may be different than the current unit, making the installation even more of a challenge. Have a drill, hacksaw and access to a good hardware store handy while doing this job.

The instructions say that the screws are accessed through the top of the compartment that the A/C unit is mounted in.

I hope in your case the box is not also glued.  Best of luck!  Remember, the mounting bracket may be different on the replacement.

There is a circuit breaker access through the lazeret on the B331/361,
it could simply be that it tripped.

When i replaced mine there were no such screws. I had to pry the microwave
up from the front popping the screws that were in the bottom of the microwave on
my 331. I unplugged it from the back first as it was plugged in the rear and you
can reach it from the lazarette. I know what Beneteau says but on my boat that was
not the case.

On my 2006 373 the microwave is firmly attached to a shelf that can
slide in and out. There are two screws from the aft adjoining cabinet
that are placed horizontally through the side of the shelf and hold
the shelf in place. I have had to take the microwave out of its place
a few times and all I had to do was to unscrew those two screws and
pull out the microwave. Never looked on the bottom of the microwave
as to how that shelf is attached, but it shouldn't be difficult to
separate them once the unit/shelf is pulled out of the cabinet. Good
luck.

Ron, I thought the screws should be accessed from the AC chamber, but there were no screws there.

Victor, That may be the option. There are a couple of screws on the bulkhead in the lasarett. I thought they held the shelf support in place, but will check again.

Thanks for all the input.

Mark if your Beneteau 331 is the same as mine that won't work. This was
the worst installation I have ever seen.I think they put it in as they assembled
the cabinet.

"This was the worst installation I have ever seen."
Agree fully -- that is what I discovered on the 361. It was a difficult job to get access to the microwave as the box it is in had to be taken apart. It took me a little while to actually believe that I had to break open the glued top & sides along the glue joints, but that is what had to be done. Have access to a good hardware store -- you are in for an adventure.

We had a microwave for our first season on our 361 but then removed it as we never used it. Super easy to take out though, wired to a 110 outlet and screws in the 4 legs on the bottom, unscrew and pull it out, still have the owen in the garage. sorry to hear others having issues with this, hope its as easy as mine was.

UPDATE --

I contacted Beneteau. Ward responded that there were 4 bolts in the sail locker that would release the wooden base. However there are not such bolts in our locker.  There were 2 screws that were at about the right level. I removed them. No luck.  I tried to lift and pry the microwave out of the cabinet. No luck.

Best I can determine at this point, the micrwave the there to stay.  I may see if I can find a flexable hacksaw and see if I can cut the legs off the sucker!!

I used a long screwdriver with shims under it and pried the microwave screws
Out of the bottom of the microwave. The key was to damage the microwave not
The cabinet it was in. Pry from under it near the screws one at a time and move each
One small amounts at a time. They will pop out off the microwave if you do it that way

I was on the 2000 361 over the weekend and took a look in the lazerette. Bought back memories - not fond ones. There are screws in the case, but the case had to be split apart at the seams to get to the thing. And remember, the replacement microwave may mount differently, so you will probably have to improvise. Have that hardware store on standby... :-)

Thanks for the note. My 331 must be different from the 361. The lazarette has a bulkhead at the end...no signs of a case. The only signs of a microwave on the other side of the bulkhead is the microwave vent.  I hope the prybar or hacksaw will work!  I'll keep everyone posted.  Mark

Update -- the microwave is in the dump. I used the pry bar to lift the microwave to access the front screws, sawed them off with a flexible hacksaw then pried the back two screws loose  and pulled it out! The base is still firmly in place. Now the admiral needs to decide if she wants another microwave our more shelves.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advise.  Mark
