Hi,

I ordered a replacement Jabsco twist-lock toilet (29090-5000) from Defender for my 09 Beneteau 31. What I got is considerably smaller than I expected, and smaller than the published dimensions for the model. Have they changed? (I note the box says “new porcelain design”)

I’[m pretty sure my old toilet is the compact model. The bowl is about 13.25 inches across (outer measurement). The installation manual lists that as (2X6.61), or 13.22 for the compact model, which seems close enough for measurement error. The new one as a hair over 12.5 inches across. The seat is almost 2 inches shorter front-to-back, counting the lugs.

I suppose it’s possible I had the full sized version, but jabsco lists the bowl width for that one as as (2X7.2) or 14.4 inches, which is over an inch wider than the one I have. Did Beneteau use a custom size?

The hose at the top of the bowl is already jammed against the bulkhead, so I don’t think I can go up to the larger size.

Thanks!
Ben

With defender you always have the ability to return. That said if the old bowl is still sound, just get a replacement pump assembly. That way you get the slightly larger bowl.

The old one leaks around the base. I suspect a crack in the base housing—it’s all yellowed and likely brittle.

At the price of a new compact model from Defender, I figured replacing the whole thing was easier than futzing with it, and would get me a pretty new head. I guess I figured wrong.

Ben.
