Does anyone know if the dealers have the same range of parts in stock, can ship same/next day and whether they put a mark-up on the prices?

for what it is worth...  time line of new directive

I emailed Beneteau mid last week looking for availability of parts

this AM I got the reply from Amandine Delforge   ( marketing etc )  directing me to the dealer with a "automatic dealer locator attached"...

it appears this is a very new directive ( I thought I may have missed earlier notices )

not happy with the "new  way of sourcing parts"  as some of you have already expressed...  my guess is a quick response for parts availability will be gone... most of the our requests for parts are for out of production boats and no dealer is able or is crazy enough to start stocking parts that may not ever be sold by him...

finding availability will take for ever, the dealer will need to make time to call B and then wait for a response before getting back to us...  then will the parts be drop shipped to us  or  to the dealer first,  which would double shipping costs and add more time... I see a disaster in the making... common parts can be sourced elsewhere,  it is the obscure specialty part not available through normal marine channels that is going to drive us nuts...    I am needing to replace plastic clips / hinges ( failed from old age )  that secure the nav table...

I was aware that inquiries for technical advice had to be directed to a dealer however I was not aware that parts were no longer available.

I just ordered some parts and the system accepted an order and i received an advice.

Having said that, I live in Canada. BtW the local dealer has told me he has no interest in supplying parts due to hassles at the border. So perhaps Canada is different. I bought two Lewmar  port lights and with the automatic discount the price was the best I could find.

In the past the support from WARD AND TODD has been very good.

I get nothing from the local dealer.

Should the group pass along its concerns.

My closest dealer, Marina Gosselin, is in Canada. He probably has the same customs concerns. I'll check. Next closest would be Boston. That would be a bummer. Will Ward still be available for advice/consult?

I ordered parts directly from Beneteau in the last couple of weeks with no problem.
I live in Michigan.
I don't believe this information is accurate.
Technical advice yes, parts no.

you can believe what you want, but as of email received from Amandine Delforge  this morning in response to a parts request last week...  place your request through the dealer...
email him at  a.del...@beneteau.com  for confirmation...

Hello Bill,   I appreciate your feedback.  We have made some changes.

We would like all Beneteau contact to flow through the Beneteau Dealerships.

You have a few options for Spare Parts.   You can order from your Dealer,  You can Order by Phone from Beneteau America, You can order using the Spare Parts Online system and receive 15% discount.

All support issues should be directed to your local dealer and we will  focus on the support to our dealers.  This is part of our strategy to make sure our dealers around the world have the best knowledge of our products, in order to service our boats to the highest expectation levels of our customers.

As always,  we are here to help,  but we would like you to work with your dealer first.

Sincerely,

Ward

Beneteau dealer in my area has nobody that knows any more than an average boat owner, this is not going to work.
I suppose once they get a lot of feed back from unsatisfied customers they will change their mind.

Thanks Bill,

I'm glad to hear the online option is still available. My dealer is more than 3 hrs. away.

Here is the link to the online system.  I've used it over the years with good success.

Bill,

Thanks for posting Wards comments.   It's interesting the see the new direction of Beneteau; what made them a success will now make them falter.  After buying a boat from ____________, two years ago (the Oceanis 50) that is my last Beneteau.  The wood finish is terrible, and trying to find an electrical problem might qualify you for admission to the Betty Ford Clinic, the Freezer on my boat has gained me two admission passes!

All,

I just received a message from Beneteau USA that service and parts inquiries will first be handled by local dealers. This policy took effect two months ago.  I just sent our local dealer's service department the question I was asking Beneteau USA.  We shall wait and see what response I get.

Not just what response you get but when you get it.

Fact is most dealers are not interested in selling me a $7 part for a 10 year old boat nd are highly unlikely to carry that item in stock or to even know what it is.

I can't even log into the Beneteau parts website, and  I've  been waiting over 3 weeks for a response from B. I'm trying to find companionway steps that will fit our Jeanneau. Jeanneau has the same policy requiring you to go through a dealer, but inquiries to two dealers have gone unanswered. FWIW I got a human at Jeanneau America who  told me the steps weren't available for our 2003 S.O. 35 and that no other Jeanneau steps could possibly fit our boat or match the natural teak finish. Not very helpful.

I think steps from a 2011-2014 Beneteau 34 would work if I can just find out if they're available and their cost. My next step is to contact St. Bart's Yachts in Charleston and see if they can help. BTW, they sold our First 32s5 for us. Ron Stoddard was great to work with.

I heard back from AYS in Annapolis within 24 hrs about a question I had about my spinnaker set up.  Chris Humphreys the owner sent me an email regarding the questions I had about my spin halyard set up, and the parts manager Cathy Streeter also sent me an email about a part request.  I am impressed and hopeful that this new direction from Beneteau USA will be good for everybody.

I ordered parts from Beneteau  on July 19 (Sunday).   After supplying the shipping address and credit card information.  The order was confirmed shortly after by Debbie Thomas.  I also had a question about another part, Debbie quickly responded with a part number and price.  She directed me to order online for a 15% discount.  Business as usual without any problem as far as I am concerned.
I have also ordered a part from AYS even though my boat wasn't purchased thru them.  I dealt with Cathy Streeter;  she was very helpful and shipped the part out very quickly.  Great
service.
