Does anyone out there know the 473 Keel bolt socket size and torque
value, and any special needs of the job of tightening them?

I did e-mail the factory, but they must be too busy to answer at this
time.

its a 2002, hull 55.

Thanks in advance
Larry

On my 2003 they are 36mm. Special needs are a big breaker bar! I
don't know the torque spec.

Thanks for the socket size, it was correct and I went with 280-300
foot pounds for a torque, this was a guess since Beneteau never
returned my e-mail, they all seemed to be found at around 50-60 foot
pounds (very loose). I was able to borrow a snap-on dial wrench.

It did make a visible difference at the hull/keel seam.

Thanks again
Larry

Our OC400 has 2 sizes the smaller is a M20 bolt with a 36mm head. The
larger ones appear to have been changed because they came from the
BIG BOLT company. They are M30 with a 2" head. Both were marked with
8-8. I called Beneteau Parts and asked for the technical department.
Great response from a Debbie Thomas who emailed the torque specs
within 10 minutes. The torque on the M30 bolts range from 137 to 651
depending on the type of bolt. M20 range is 94-231 .

Since I was getting no response from Beneteau, I checked the ISO
standard for a 36mm bolt head and found that it should be an M24, with
a 24mm thread diameter, or just shy of 1", in stainless, to get about
a ton (20,000 psi) from each bolt (11 bolts), the torque should have
been around 299 ft lb, I have since launched the boat, and the
dynamics will be different if they do respond with a much lower needed
value.

Still I will try to contact Debbie to hopefully get a real value, not
like the manuals instructions of "check keel bolts tight", a bit vague
in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback, I do love the boat, but I am trying to
maintain it correctly with very little guidance.
