All,

After sailing with heavy winds on the Chesapeake this past weekend, my foot broke my cockpit plexiglass engine gauge cover in our B373.  Ward at Beneteau USA came through again with a replacement part for $142 which was much less expensive than was quoted at the local custom plastic fabrication store.  ($90/hr for labor and at least two hours if not more) Has anybody found a better re-design for this curved plexiglass cover which happens to be perfect for my foot rest on a heavy starboard heel?

Just replace the one on our OC 351 for $25 and got it from a local glass shop that sells plexiglas also.  Took the old, scratched one in for a pattern.  I found the retainer clips on line, but don't ask me the name of the store.  Good luck!!!

Len... Ward Richardson's email address is:   ward.ri...@beneteauusa.com   I took the broken plexiglass to our local marine plexiglass dealer and he wanted well over $200 for a 'custom remake' .. Beneteau charged me $142 with $10 for shipping...

I ran across an ad for PanelVisor in the current issue of Southwinds, but it seems they only make them for Yanmar instrument panels

Usual disclaimer: I don't know these people and am not a shareholder in their company!

Jim,
I bought some of the “Port Visor” from these people.
We love them.  Great aid in leak prevention/mitigation for the Lewmar joint leaks.

Folks:

We had our hatch boards replaced with Lexan, 3/8 inch with green "B" tint, by a supplier in Northern Indiana.

Quality of workmanship met all expectations. Pricing was not marine biased.

I would assume he can make gauge covers if you provide a precise drawing/sketch..

Suggest you use Lexan or equivalent versus plexiglass. Lexan is bullet proof. and very scratch resistent.  BTW-- we also used this supplier for home lexan requirements.

I've been thinking of replacing our hatch boards with Lexan/plexiglass, if you dont mind me asking, how much does that run in Lexan? Did you mount the hardware yourself?

Cost was under $100US. Provided template for size and original hardware to have supplier remount. They also beviled the joint to prevent water intrusion. Had two  2.5 inch holes cut and mounted a grill with fine screen behind for minor ventilation.

This was done in off season when OEM B boards were out and replaced with winter storage boards.

They have work fine.

This sound like an excellent improvement, I'll contact them and hopfully they can make something similar. I was hoping to get some sort of hinge between them so they can be folded up together, now they're seperate but never really have one in and not the other...

I am also in the market to replace my drop boards. My acrylic panels measure .625 and the track slightly larger.

Were yours 3/8" material, how do fit in the track tight?

David: They fit fine. Made to OEM-B spec. I did put a spacer in the track to reduce any movement. Trying to keep the spiders out as much as possible.

Provide Gene the thickness spec and see how close he can match.
