I've called the group Mutus Liber, inspired by the text of Hermetic alchemy by the same name. The text itself is but a book of illustrations.
Mutus Liber (first published in 1677) is a wordless book in which "the whole of Hermetic philosophy and the sacred truths of the world are depicted in a hieroglyphic pictorial language that all might comprehend for themselves." The first edition of the text was allegedly "thrice consecrated."
The purported premise of the text is that it's universal-- every nation of the world "can read and hear" its meaning, and can attain the knowledge it offers without need of a translator. (Although regrettably, this visual language doesn't accommodate our Blind communities.)
To date, the meaning and even the purpose of these illustrations are still debated, with no concrete answers. And that kind of reminds me of the tarot. Then of course there's that whole Hermetic philosophy angle to it that piques my interest.
Carl Jung famously had a copy of the text among his possessions. You can check out what is purported to be his personal copy of Mutus Liber here: https://www.e-rara.ch/cgj/content/titleinfo/1350330 [Titles in Alchemy, Magic and Kabbalah (from the Foundation of the Works of C.G.Jung, Zurich)]
The organization of the Discord group is still in its nascent phase-- we set it up just yesterday, so please bear with us as we tinker and fine-tune its structure.
While it's tarot focused, to deepen our understanding and study of the tarot, we're also going to be talking extensively about the cultural context and history of tarot, philosophy, psychology, and mysticism. And hey, look, we're not going to pretend we're all spiritual and enlightened. =) There's certainly going to be space for gossip! The friendly sort of banter, of course. Bless her heart. =)

There are some very important rules, though.
For starters, don't type and post anything you would never say to someone's face in person. =) Yeah?
Be kind. This is not to say you can't speak your mind. But even in person when you speak your mind, since you have to look people in the eyes, and you can immediately feel their emotions within range of your own, you're more considerate of how you speak your mind, right?
Also, please do not flex here, and please do not advertise. Be transparent with yourself about your purpose for joining. If you hop in because you think this may be a good place for you to showcase your wares and services, please hop right out. There are so many forums on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, all those places for you to cultivate your branding and PR. Not here, mm-kay?
Do not betray people's trust. Be ever mindful and observant of the Golden Rule.
We want this to be a space of learning, personal expansion, and yet most important of all, a social gathering place. I want us to get to know each other. I want you to feel like you've met people who you now sincerely care about.
And by the way, that's why I tongue-in-cheek mentioned the gossip. Because I do want this to be a social gathering place.
I want this to be a place where you can realize you're not alone. And you belong here because you're valued here, you contribute to the strength, the health, and the beauty of this space, and in exchange, everyone here is committed to supporting your growth.
Am I being too idealistic again? I hope not. =)
So join us! Introduce yourself. And because we are in the nascent stages of development, your suggestions matter a lot. Help us build the structure of the space.
