A big thank you to everyone who has helped make the Saturday Lower Bridge ride a regularly occurring part of the Bend cycling scene!  As a result, moving forward, I hope we can assume this ride is happening weekly, kind of like Hammerfest, that way I won't have to post here each week an announcement.

Please use Paul's new website, https://bendbikerides.com/event , as the source of truth for these recurring weekly group ride details.

But while I'm here...
Meet at The Grove (NWX), Saturday, 9am start time.

Short rolling regroup at a couple key spots on the route, but please be aware that this is not a "no drop" ride.  Please show up self sufficient.

All that said, there are two short full stops on the route (with about 2 min stops), with the intention of making the ride just a little bit more manageable and inclusive for those being really challenged fitness wise.  We will stop about a half mile down Holmes Road from the stop sign at the end of Fryear(https://maps.app.goo.gl/DaLyYuHi3zhSvbg17), and here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/kQ1GV61kAdWsvFXu6, which should split the route into roughly thirds.

For anyone interested in this ride that might not be familiar with this route, here are the details: https://www.strava.com/routes/3058152556599195686

Anyone looking to level up their group riding skills, this is a great opportunity to jump in, learn, and push yourself. This group tends to be more of an experienced group, and falls into a natural mix of fast but steady collaborative pace line riding and harder competitive riding.  There isn't a predetermined pace, that will be determined by who shows up and the group dynamic out on the road, but generally speaking this ride tends to be on the faster side of the spectrum.

Have fun, stay safe, and ride fast!
Kindly,
Matt

* This is a group of friends getting together for a ride, this is not an official event.  By showing up and participating, you take full responsibility for yourself and your actions and fully accept the risks of riding in a group and on open roads.

Thanks Matt! You’re right — this should just happen regularly, with occasional updates for weather, etc.

FWIW despite many of the regulars prepping/resting for the downtown crit, a small but might group was out there last week.

My one selfish request: I hope we can make occasional McKenzie pass rides part of this. Maybe someone just calls it when it works for them, or maybe we make it monthly (or whatever). But I saw that come through earlier and thought it looked really cool.
