i'm a student doing Masters in Fashion Technology. In future i'll be working in some export house or buying house. Our industry has not experienced 6-sigma till now as it seems to be out of reach. Can u plz guide me how 6-sigma certification can help me in my carrier? And can u tel me what all garment companies are looking for introducing 6-sigma?

Kindly ans my questions as soon as possible.

Hello Shivani,

Export Houses or Buying Houses have potential of applying Six Sigma in
following improvement projects

1. Reducing rejections in shipments.
2. Improving first sample approval percentages while working with
buyers.
3. Improving buyer satisfaction levels.
4. Increasing repeat business.
5. Improving supplier evaluation processes.
6. Improving AQL performance in shipments.
7. Improving merchandiser performance.
8. Reducing non conformances in audits by buyers.
9. Reducing Business Risks
10. Improving processes at the source (including fabric purchase and
inspection, stitching, embroidery, packing and shipping) to reduce
rejections at later stages.

I have worked as a consultant with Buying Houses and have delivered
similar benefits using Six Sigma tools (although they do not call it
Six Sigma, but the same concepts hold true in this industry).

Let me know if you have more questions.
