Dear all,

If you ever dreamed of being a permanent researcher at a university (without teaching obligations, but possibility to teach), the French CNRS and INRIA positions may be of interest to you. You integrate in a research lab at a French university and are essentially free to do your research on whatever topic interests you. I have been with the CNRS for more than 10 years now, and I greatly enjoy the huge flexibility and freedom to do what I like.

You do not need to speak French to apply, the whole application process is in English (or in French for those who prefer).
(I did not speak a word of French when I was recruited)

Application deadlines are February 9 for CNRS positions and Feb 6 for INRIA.

More information available here:
CNRS: https://www.cnrs.fr/en/cnrsinfo/launch-2024-external-competition-researchers
INRIA: https://www.inria.fr/en/jobs-researchers-2024-recruitment-inria

In addition, our team at Sorbonne University is recruiting an assistant professor (Maître de Conférences or MCF for short). Fluency in French is required to apply for this position. The MCF position is called "Conception et analyse d'algorithmes : de la théorie à la pratique" and is of particular interest to researchers with a profile in optimization and AutoML, with a possible integration to the Operations Research team (RO).

The description of the MCF position is available at https://www.lip6.fr/recherche/emploi-fiche.php?ident=E128 (with a link to download the PDF)

Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about any of these openings, I will be happy to explain how it works and to put you in touch with teams who could host CNRS and INRIA researchers. For CNRS, our team would be happy to recruit colleagues with an interest in optimization or in AutoML.

Please feel free to forward this information to potential candidates.

Best wishes,
Carola
