My XFS went through a failure, which I recovered from using xfs_repair -L. As a result, several of my files were corrupted and my lost+found directory had many files/directories created in it which are in the several hundreds of GB (my production system is in the order of TB's)

I recently accidently bridged funds from an ETH Gnosis-Safe to AVAX without changing the destination address. As expected, the funds were bridged on AVAX under the same address as the ETH safe, but I don't believe I can access them without re-creating a safe on AVAX.

The custodian is arguing that there should be lost earnings on the profit sharing for all of the other employees since the Employee #1 got $5,000 of his deposited early, and that Employee #2 should receive lost earnings since her contribution was not deposited at the same time.

Both of these were mistakes by the employer, and the final contribution in both instances was made timely. Additionally, the document says that "Unless otherwise provided by contract or law, the Employer may make its contribution to the Plan for a particular Plan Year at such time as the Employer, in its sole discretion, determines."

Because the person who got the early deposit is an HCE, it could be construed as discriminatory. But the custodian should not be making the decision about how to correct the error, unless they are also a plan fiduciary.

I agree. The issue is discrimination, not lost earnings. (And the custodian should stay out of it unless there is some specific authority for being involved.) I'd probably scold and warn them and move on.

The sad reality is that a lot of small plans (and others) rely on a bundled service provider for all advice about maintaining the plan because the advice appears to be free. The advice is often worth exactly what is paid for it and it often makes the provider a functional fiduciary, which is a problem both for the provider and the named fiduciary.

We are talking about maybe a hundred of lost earnings in total. The remaining deposit was made in early January 2014. So really you are talking about interest on a month. They are refusing to transfer any funds between the sources without lost earnings.

It sounds like calculating the lost income would require time of a much higher value than the lost income. How about telling the custodian to send you their calculation of the lost income? They want to be a fiduciary, so let them be one. If their lost income calculation is less than what your time would cost to deal with the matter, the employer may decide it's easier to just deposit the lost income.

She wrote them down as she tried them. She spent HOURS trying to get into the thing, all the while getting more frustrated. Then she tore the house apart (literally, not figuratively), searching for the card that had the combination on it. Newp, nowhere to be found.

I called a locksmith and safe technician friend of mine, he said he would have to drill this safe that has been in her family for 30-40 years, which would leave it in an inoperable state without costly repairs, so that was not appealing.

We called the manufacturer who could actually give you the default factory combination (for a fee) if you provide the serial number. There was no serial number anywhere on it (There is one INSIDE, but what good is that?!?!).

Luck was on my side! The first number was easy to determine, obviously, that wheel was where the fence was making contact first, unlike in the article. And when I looked at the attempted combinations that Pamela had tried, guess what? It was one of the ones she had guessed at, in fact, it was her 3rd guess.

I inherited a meilink safe. The door is open and lock is in locked position and I have no idea how to even start to get the combination or to get a new combination? Please help. I am in Denver, Colorado and could take the safe to someone to help me.

I live in Littleton, CO. Been in the lock business for many years. Would you like me to help you? You say the door is open and in the lock position. GREAT! Better than locked up, closed lol! Call me! 303-933-3336 Robert

Thanks for the information. I had a Meilink safe that came with the house we purchased about a year ago. I had the numbers but did not know the sequence of turns for each number. After reading your post I used the numbers I had and opened it on the very first try. Thanks!

I recently purchased a new house in Colorado. The sellers left an old safe in the garage with no combination. It is a Meilink safe with serial # 88-6191. Is there a way I can get the combination or is it just junk. The people that use to live here were garage sale fanatics, I figure they probably bought it in a sale somewhere.
Thanks
Gator Grice

IF the combination has been changed since it left the factory, then that route would do you no good, but from what I understand, people rarely pay the money to get combinations changed, and doing it yourself is not an easy task, so, spending the money might not be a bad gamble.

The other option is to get a locksmith to open it and give you the combination or set a new one. This safe CAN be manipulated even though it has plastic parts that make it very difficult. They can also just drill it open and fix it back again.

I won a storage auction and there was a safe that looks very much like the one you have at the top. On the dial itself, may have had a mei link emblem, paper? What ever it is, is removable. I removed the silver paper that had started peeling and its that 40ish green color underneath and its rubbery and in good shape. I then took off the tip of the dial, which is black on your photo, and it revealed a what could be the combination?

Hi
I may have already emailed, but not sure if it went thru.
The photo at the top of the page looks exactly mine, except the dial insert, which is covered on yours.
On mine, an inserted piece of copper? with this inscribed
S 81217. With your knowledge, what does this mean and can it be simplified?
Thank you
Debbie

i have a 1985 meilink floor safe with a handal the door is open but locked it was given to me where is the seirial # i dont see it inside is it worth keeping i dont want to pay a locksmith its no good if i cant even close the door inside was the receite from montgomery ward and two treys

I have a MEI LINK passed and the combination dial will not turn left passed 70. Turns right with no problem . Combination will not work any more with this problem. Anyone know how to get the to turn normally again?

Our huge Meilink safe was purchased with the house in a safe room. We tried to use it with the same combo 4 years after purchase. Unfortunately, even a safe specialist locksmith could not open it. It had been previously drilled. So, he was finally after many hours, able to open it with his mirror tools and hammer. He refilled the redrilled hole with tungsten ball bearings and cold welded it sealed. The dial was worn out. He could replace it or install an electronic keypad. I chose the latter. Now we have easy access and only the battery replacement is required for maintenance. Yes, it cost $800 (open and replacement keypad). A new 25+ cu ft safe that size is about $5,000 or more new so it is worth it. I am storing documents, photos and master recordings in it.

Please provide all of the information requested or the combination will not be re-issued. In addition to the information below, please provide the following required documents:

So far so good. The installation was simple. I originally was going to use the external antenna but that would have been difficult to thread it thru my safe which is tight up against the wall. The internal antenna worked just fine and much easier to install.

The USA 50 is a nice roomy safe with lots of options. I do wish more attention to detail on applying the stickers are in order. Applying them crooked should be corrected. That being said the safe is solid and roomy.
