Festival has it all!
The Sustainable Living
Festival runs from October 13-17 and incorporates a series of events including
Ride to Work Day, a special Growers market with Garden Guru Phil Dudman and chef
and broadcaster Julie Ray, a screening of ‘Food Inc’ at the Jetty Memorial
Theatre and the Botanica Spring Festival at the
Regional
Botanic Garden .
Plus – on Saturday,
October 16, the Botanic Garden also plays host to a day of FREE Sustainability
Workshops.
There are 12 workshops in
total, covering a huge range of topics including:

Farming in a Carbon Future by Greg Reid, Department of
Primary Industry. He looks at the challenges and opportunities to sustainable
farming posed by climate change and carbon trading.

Landshare
Australia and its Local Application
by Garden Guru Phil Dudman and Tom Hackett. Landshare
Australia brings
together people who have a passion for locally-grown food, to people who have
land to share.

Building with Industrial Hemp by Klara Marosszeky. Learn
how to use hemp as a sustainable building material.
·
Energy Efficiency in Business by Matt Parnell of Green
Synergy Consulting. A workshop that explores ways to reduce energy usage in
small business.

City of Hope : Towards
Sustainable living in
Coffs
Harbour by award-winning local architect
Reiner Schimminger. He will explore the issues surrounding sustainable living
and building.
