Hi Everyone

Please send a message to Premier O'Farrell that you do not want the Native Vegetation Act 2003 to be repealed or watered down.  The Shooter's and fishers party already got shooting in National Parks through !! We can't let them have this as well.

The plight of Koalas and other native animals are in a very precarious situation.  The removal of this act will allow clearing of native forests without any proper environmental assessment.

I urge you to please send a short message.  For the earth.

Subject: Our native wildlife and their habitat are under attack!

Take action today to defend our native wildlife and their habitat.

Dear Erik & Patricia,

Over the past 20 years, koala numbers in New South Wales are estimated to have dropped by 33 per cent, placing the species at real risk of extinction. For native species like the koala, protection of their forest and woodland habitat is literally a matter of life and death.

Now, our native wildlife faces a new threat.

Last week, the Shooters and Fishers Party announced that they plan to introduce legislation to repeal the Native Vegetation Act 2003, the law that controls broadscale land clearing and regulates logging activities on private land.

This move represents a very real threat to one of our most important and hard won environmental laws. Premier O’Farrell has already shown that he is willing to make deals with the Shooters and Fishers, by opening up our national parks to hunting in exchange for their vote in the Upper House.

Now, more than ever, it’s essential that people like you and I speak up on behalf of our much loved native wildlife. It’s less than a decade since we won the campaign to end broadscale land clearing in New South Wales. We can, and must, stand up to defend this hard won victory for the environment.

Tell the NSW Government that our remaining native habitats must not be sacrificed for short term political benefit.

The NSW Government is currently reviewing the Native Vegetation Regulations 2005, and has invited public comment on a series of proposed changes to these important regulations.

During this public comment period, it is essential that government hears from people that support stronger, not weaker, protection for our native vegetation and wildlife.

Send a personal message today.  Your email will be sent to the Office of Environment and Heritage, with copies to the Premier and Minister for the Environment.

Public submissions on the Native Vegetation Regulations close this week so it is important to take action by this Friday, 24 August.

We have come so far in curbing destructive land clearing, please take a moment today to tell the government our remaining native landscapes deserve strong protections.

Thank you for standing up for our native landscapes and wildlife.

 Sincerely,

 Kate Smolski

 Campaigns Director
