Im there. We are seeded 41st (or there abouts) after T1, but only the
top 32 teams get to go to nationals, as we really need as many players
as possible available for this one if we are going to get there

Sorry guys I'm most definitely out of this one! Taigs work 12th and
the 13th if they don't go on holiday!! haha...
Yeah, I accepted overtime work well before they announced the dates
for this and I also get paid like double time or something on top of
overtime... score! ...ish

I thought banbridge was a more 'green' sort of town, so I looked it up
in Wikipedia, and I see Darragh that you are outnumbered approximately
2 to 1. Perhaps you could change your name to Darren (pronounced
Darrn), and take an unhealthy liking to flute band music?

Looking at flights it seems like ryanair strikes again. Flying out on Friday
night and back first thing on Monday morning is currently going at £17 with
only hand luggage and you use a fisher-price credit card. That's going to
East Midlands Airport then get a hire car and it's about an hours drive to
the pitches. If mike is going then a few people could fly to Bristol and get
a lift with him. Ryanair, Bristol flights are the same price. Anyone think
of any other routes?

here's a quick question.....

if we win C tour 2 are we guaranteed a place into uk nationals? my
fears are that
1. uk nationals is only a 32 team competition
2. there may be teams from outside uk wanting to play, a la last
year.
By winning the c tour we are ostensibly the bottom of the uk teams.
if there are any foreign teams wanting to enter, then we'll be the
first kicked out.

Anyone (Sam, Mike, Ob...) know the answer? Mike..... you know the
TD's for Nationals? Thought i'd stick it up here first before I post
it on Britdisc.

This needs to be cleared up pretty quickly.... any ambiguity about
these things tends to sap any momentum.

You'd need to ask the DoC (Directory of Competitions) (currently
Benji). The TD doesn't have anything to do with the format or the
schedule.

Where does this notion of Tour 3/Nationals only being a 32 team event
come from? I can't find any mention of it on BritDisc; was it
mentioned elsewhere? My impression was that Tour 3/Nationals would be
run more as a Tour event and only had the Nationals label to keep
people who think that the UK needs a Nationals happy.

I have a promo code for Hertz to get 3 days hire for the price of 2.

Shirley Gay-ray wants to go to Alton Towers sometime. We could go on
the Monday 13th. If we go as a group of 10+ the price is £24.65 each
for a day ticket.

last year uk nationals seems to be 32 teams (http://eucs.efdf.org/2008/
w/EUCR-W_2008-FinalRanking.html).

or at least they stopped counting after 32

I read somewhere from Benji that tour 3 is only 32 teams. Not sure how that applies to promotion and relegation from the B and C tours though. I know Dom is pretty certain that you can go up and down between A and B for tour 3.

You are pretty much right, Pete.

Last year they used nationals as a regional qualifier for european clubs.  This isn't the case this year but they do seem to invite some european clubs which would make things rather difficult for us to go.

There are always drop outs and there's the possibility they won't invite smelly continental types... So let's win C tour!

as far as Im aware the rules on kit are simply that every team must
have two kits (light and dark) that match completely...including
shorts!! Loads of teams didn't even have matching shirts never mind
shorts but I think we were fairly close at least!!

Discussion on this has gone a bit stale with organising Summer League,
but Shuttle and 8-Ball have both been asking me what the numbers are
like that we're sending over, and saying that they would both love to
join you again! Shuttle only lives about an hour away and there is the
potential of having a floor to kip on if you need him to play,
although it's not certain yet!

I'm sending off the cheque for this first thing Monday morning. As far
as I can work out, the list of those playing is:

1) windy
2) Greamer
3) Steve H
4) Mike
5) Pete
6) ob
7) Marco
8) Linter
9) Shuttle
10) 8-ball

Is there anyone missing off this list? Is there anyone on this list
who shouldn't be?

Briefly looking at flights, Belfast City to East Midlands with Cyntair
looks the cheapest. Has anyone got a better idea? What are we doing
about tents?

Is it not better to fly to Birmingham airport, instead of East Midlands? Also i would consider Stenaline Sail and Rail from Belfast to Birmingham for £38 each way. Its means we can book upto the day before we go and dont have to worry about the price going up. And we can drink on the boat and the train! (if thats your thing)

Also Rob said to put him on the list so i will do that

No one is booked yet apart from windy who's going to Bristol. It's very
expensive using Birmingham international airport so it looks like ryanair to
east midlands or bristol would be best. It's currently £60 for Friday
evening out, and Monday morning back with just hand luggage, add £20 for
£15kg. Are we camping or shacking up in pete's sister's boyfriend's house?

Lintor,

With ryanair the flights out from east midlands to city are first
thing in the morning, or at 5pm. So you are either going to have to
miss some games on the sunday, book with another airline from another
airport, or come home on the monday.

Lads, whats the craic with accomodation? Are we gona take up Pete's
offer of staying with his sisters BF, or are we gona camp?

I'm booked (Steve booked it for me).
Had to request my password from UKUA, so will sort out membership when
I get home.

I would prefer the floor of Pete's sister's boyfriend's dog's house as
long as it's not that far and we can get to and from the pitches quite
easily.

Last time was quite fun stayin at the pitches. We all went out for a
meal, walked about the town, collected cardboard, got a few drinks -
but thats only good if these are available nearby. Also you can wake
up and get ready for a match pretty quickly giving you more rest time
and increased performance(probably). Petes brothers girlfriends dogs
friend lives 25 miles away, so i think you would need to get up 1h30m
earlier than sleeping beside the pitch.

There's a shopping centre nearby so we can get some supplies there and
there's a pub just 1/2 a mile away from the pitches

we can call staying at my sis' boyfriend's house (martin's his name if
you're wondering) closer to the date. it's half an hour away so it
might be better to camp but we can let him know when we see a slightly
more detailed forecast.

Dave when you've registered on the ukua website with BUG then I can
add you to our roster (except for Garry who I can never roster!)

Ok looking at hirecar prices, it looks like £90 to £100 for a wee hatchback for friday to monday. I reckon we need 1 hire car and hopefully windy/mike will have room for the rest.

Can anyone find a better deal?

Half an hour really is nothing of a journey from petes sisters dogs
boyfriends kennel with an en-suite, and it would mean a lot less
hassle tryin to get tents across, i've just done glasto with a tent
and it would be impossible to get one across with just hand baggage.

I'd still be up for camping by the pitches whatever the decesion, just
cause i'm easy!

Ok, not sure if anyone can hear this but we’ve got a problem getting home. So Linter is getting dropped off on Sunday at Birmingham airport and then Pete is off to Luton. That leaves

Steve H

Dave

Greamer

Marco

Windy

Ob

That’s 6 people who need a lift to the airport on Monday and I believe Ob as STM has booked a hire car that can take 5. We need to be there for about 5 in the morning, so shall we just sleep at the airport and someone gets the bus from Coventry

Ill be looking to book my flights this weekend, prob getting the ryan
air flight out at 6 same as pete, then the 5ish one back on the
monday :)

Why let one person get the bus on their own? Why dont we split it in half, 3 go in the car and 3 go on the bus? Not very fair shipping one person off on their own....

And i dont really mind sleeping in the airport....might take bens advice and get the sleeping bag out this time!

Also Steve, how are we getting to the airport 2mra nite, u just wana let marco drive, save ur mum doing lifts?

Tour 2 is upon us.

Weather forecast is wet so be prepared for the weather!! Pitches were
a
little hard this evening but were OK for blades, but you'll need
studs.

For those camping Friday night - the Pavilion bar is not available to
us,
but the toilets are available in the Pavilion throughout the night.
Best
pub to go to is the Safe Harbour, which is on Moor Lane around 600
yards
down the road past the all weather pitch. You can leave the venue by
the
bowling gate which is next to the camping area and cuts off a large
chunk of
the journey.

Captains packs will be sent to the captains tonight.

Directions are on the uku website - postcode is B6 7AA.

See you at T2.
