Need some help to spread Ultimate in NI

Hi all,

Are you free on the evening of Friday 12th August, and willing to travel up to Ballymena to help demonstrate Ultimate Frisbee, and help with a small tournament?

BU have been contacted by the County Antrim branch of The Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster. They run an annual competition between their 15 clubs, and this year have chosen to play their own Ultimate Frisbee tournament. Since they know very little about the sport, and are all beginners, they have asked BU for some help in running their competition.

Since it's an opportunity to spread Ultimate in NI, we've agreed to help out. If we can organise a small group from BU to go up on the night, we can provide some basic coaching, and rules advice, and possibly even play along with them. If you can spare the time, please volunteer for this, as it could inspire future Ultimate players in NI.

Thanks to Jack, Ciaran, Dan and Trev for coming along last Friday to help the Young Farmers. The event was a success. There were 11 teams, so a total of about 70-80 players, all basically new to the sport. The matches went by quite smoothly. It was the usual beginner chaos that you would normally expect, but there was decent progression in the games, and by all accounts, everyone enjoyed themselves. While we were helping out with an external novelty competition, rather than evangelizing the sport of Ultimate, you never know, we might see one or two of them again sometime.

Glad to have done it.
