2012 Membership and Monthly Standing Orders

Afternoon BU,

Firstly thank you to those members that turned up at last nights EGM.

There we discussed and voted on the 2012 membership rates, as well as other things. Minutes and results will be published soon.

it was proposed that membership rates for BU would increase from the current £12per year to £24per year.

This was voted on and passed.

So membership for 2012 starting on the 1st January 2012 will be £24per year

It was also agreed that Junior* Membership and Women's membership will be at the price of £18per year

*Junior membership will be for members who are under 18 at the start of the membership period or in Full time Lower Education (6th form etc)

i.e. anyone who is under 18 on the 1st of January 2012 will be entitled to Junior Membership and rates for the full year.

Now we realise that this is a 100% increase in what we were paying last year.

so below are the reasons on why we have had to increase the charges unfortunatley.

- BU needs a capital of money in the bank- Tournament entry/kit orders etc

- This above capital we hope to invest into Public Liability Insurance which is a requirement of Clubmark*

- The bank in which we are in a years grace of bank charges is about to end so we will soon be paying bank charges**

*Clubmark is a accreditation that the committee is currently working on which will be in the near future a pre-requisite for funding.

** I am currently working on trying to swap bank accounts or negotiate better deals. Updates will be given when more info is available 

As well as these prices being agreed on last night, the Membership Form and Monthly Standing Order Form were also made available to members.

This is a new step for BU to be taking. We aren't requiring these details for our benefit.

We need these details to conform with Clubmark

We would ask that every member please fill these out correctly and promptly. Also as we need to be able to read them so please use block capitals etc :)

Monthly Standing Order Form

As agreed in Nov 2010 we will be moving our membership to a monthly standing order directly into BU's bank account.

The only compulsory payment is the BU membership which works out at £2per month.

But the committee has put together a series of bolt ons to the monthly payment which range from Shorts Membership/Ballysillan/Entry into 3 irish Tournaments and more.

These are all totally optional but have been but together that they are value for money.

Along with the monthly charges for these activities there is also a list of PAYG "pay as you go" prices for the year.

You can work out which is of better value to you.

On that note if the the monthly standing orders are well supported it may be the case that there"may" be some free extra activities/tournaments.

These Bolt ons were created because we identified certain times of the year are very tournament/training heavy which incur high costs.

this means with the pay monthly you "pay" for the activities during the quiet months too.

Saves the event organiser asking for large amounts of money off members for individual event.
