Hi folks

After a few drinks the other Tuesday, and some further suggestions, we have some ideas for future Belfast Ruby talks.

Firstly, since we now know that Ruby Ireland is on the third Tuesday of each month and locally, Xcake is on the second Tuesday, how about the first Tuesday of each month?  Let me know your thoughts. Any other local events clash?  We could start in June, unless anyone is brave enough to get one ready for next week?

Anyway, below are the suggestions for talks, in no particular order.  More are welcome.  There's enough here for more than one talk per month, but I think one meetup per month is fine.  1-1.5 hours of talks in an evening seems like plenty.

Not all talks have speakers lined up. If you fancy picking one and a date to go with it, reply and let us know: what when and how long you'd like to talk for.  We'll get all this into the calendar and on a blog post on the site sometime soon.

## Testing

* POODR - Chris McGrath (@chrismcg), "I'm up for either redoing the talk I'm giving tomorrow night at Ruby Ireland "Stay objective with POODR - Sandi Metz's Ruby principles & when to break them" or what I'd prefer to do is a talk on testing based on the final chapter of the same book. More practical advice on when and what to test / not test than a why of BDD/TDD. May is busy for me but I'd be happy to do it any month after that."

* Travis CI - David Rice (@davidjrice)
* Test Driven Development first principles - ?

## Data

* Neo4j - Stephen McCullugh (@swmcc)
* Couchbase / CouchDB - ?
* Redis - ?

## New Stuff

* Rails 4 - Zak Grant (@zgrant)
* Ruby 1.9/2.0 - ?

## Shipping It

* Puppet - Simon McCartney (@simonmcc)
* Agile deployment - David Rice (@davidjrice)

## Rails + JS

* Ember / Spine - Will McNeilly (@willmcneilly)
* Use Rails as an API - Phil McClure (@overture8)

Cheers

Hi folks,

I'm afraid I was out of town for the meet up a couple of weeks ago but the talk list is looking great.

Not sure it fits any of the topics, but I was going to offer to give a talk on using Vagrant to provision dev environments and the things that tidies up - remote teams, various hardware configurations and/or devs bouncing between multiple projects with different dependancies.

Cheers
Barry

Guys

Tuesdays are generally good for me. I'll see if I can rustle a subject together to talk on..... :-)

Cheers, Colin

Folks

If there are any preferences on which one we want to run on 4th June, or any volunteers to speak, let me know.  I'll get a post up on Digital Circle and the like tomorrow morning.

Cheers

Simon

Hi,

Well I suppose if there is no one else that can do one then I guess I can pull my neo4j one out of my ass. But it'd be tight like so probably only as a last resort if someone else doesn't have one. It is about 50% done. Think it is important to keep the meets going though so as I said if no one else is forthcoming I'll bend over for yas ;)

Cheers,

Nice one Stephen. I think you're likely the most prepared!

According to Jim Webber the Swedish side of the company calls it "Neo 4 yay". I'd love to hear more about it!

I'd stick to 20/30 minutes at a max

We'll see if anyone else is interested

Stephen,

Can you send me a title and description of the talk for the website and digitalcircle listing?

If you want to add a one-liner about yourself too, that would be good.

Cheers

Simon
