Hi,

Any ideas for talks in May? I think we should maybe organise them a good bit in advance or at least know what is going to happen in May.

I am just conscious of keeping the momentum going that Rumblelabs/Shopkeep and Melissa have started.

If there are no takers I guess I could talk in May. Not sure on what but to keep stuff going. I liked the lightning talks we had a few months ago but I also really like the format we had when Barry and Coby did theirs.

Just throwing it out there - as a community it is unfair to let Rumblelabs and Shopkeep take the burden on every month. Melissa is doing a great job too I just think we should all do our part and this is me doing mine.

Cheers,

I’ve discussed with a few Rumblers about giving a talk on the future of assets and front end development in rails environments. We’ve been doing some soul searching on the subject for how we ship apps but also wrt asset_sync and it’s future. Hopefully can pull thoughts (and code) together for next month, though realistically it may be June before I can.

Date pun unintentional.

Hi,

Sounds good for a June one don't want you putting yourself under pressure for May. How about 5 lightning talks? Between the lot of us I think we could muster it?

I'll put myself forward for it - dunno what on.. But come on - four other people - wee talk lasting no longer than say 5mins?

Cheers,

Stephen

Stephen, I'll make sure I've seen The Wire before then. I'd like to see your continuation talk :)

Hi Stephen,

Would you still be interested in doing a short talk at the next meetup (May 6th)? We have another speaker lined up for that night but would like to have two, like we've done in previous meetups.

Also I wanted to thank you for being proactive, keep things moving and reaching out to people. I actually only saw this thread today (not getting notifications anymore for some reason) but I really appreciate you helping out with this, I'm glad that it's becoming a community-organised thing :)

Thanks,
Melissa

I've been off all week so apologies in not getting back to you earlier.

Thanks,

Stephen

Great, thanks Stephen!

Could you send me a short synopsis (a couple of lines will do) about your talk? I'd like to update the website with the talk details and start tweeting about it as soon as I can :)

Hi,

Sorry moving offices today. Erm.... Life outside Rails... Yeah - that'll do :)

As for a few lines - you make something up and I'll work around that :) Last time I did this everyone thought I was going to be talking about the twitter firehose  - instead I was talking about 'The Wire' - so I dunno - have fun :)

Cheers,

How about this:

Life outside Rails — in this talk Stephen McCullough will take a look at what lies beyond the familiar framework, and how and when not using Rails will make more sense for your project.

Happy with that? If you are then I can update the site with the details, you owe me for that one! ;)
