The Laptop I have is too old and slow; the price I have to pay for getting a Laptop from someone via Gumtree. I was wondering which laptop would offer the best deal in terms of processor power and value for money.

I will get a USB Pen to download the ISO image and use Unet Bootin to make the ISO bootable. (Ubuntu)

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi,
I would say Thinkpad Lenovo, Dell or HP are usually the ones with better Linux support.  While I'm not familiar with Ubuntu  (I use Fedora),  I got in the same situation as yours last year and bought a Thinkpad in Luxnote.  They're in Germany but ship to UK as well.  It might be worth to take a look:  https://www.luxnote-laptop.com
Hope this helps.

VG,
Silvia
