Meetups

Hey folks,

I've been thinking lately about local meetups and how a few of our local groups seem to have fallen into disuse and I'd like to fix that if possible.

So I want to arrange a BelfastJS meetup some time soon. I was thinking early-mid December just before everyone takes off for their holidays. My employer (rehabstudio) can offer some office space (we have room for about 30 tops, any more and we'd have to look at another venue) for the meetup and are also willing to provide beer and pizza.

Of course there's also the small matter of finding some speakers. Can anyone help with that or would like to volunteer themselves?

How does that sound to everyone, any objections? If not then we can get an announcement made and start planning.

Lets do it.  My December is a bit hectic (like most people I expect) but I'm sure we can find a date that suits (FTR I'm 100% unavailable on the 16th/17th).

In terms of topics/talks it might be good to a run few ignite talks rather than longer talks?  My 9-5 work means I'm not as knee deep in the YavaScripts as I used to be but I could talk briefly around React, ClojureScript, immutable data libraries (e.g. mori) and things like that.

Also I was thinking we could set up a meetup.com group help get the word out a bit more?

Excellent, we could use all the help we can get (although i'm not sure how yet, I'll let you know :D).

I've pencilled in the 10th of December for the meetup. I realise it's close to Christmas and people might be busy, but I figure if we get the ball rolling we can always have another meet in the new year once we've got the first one out of the way.
