The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is excited to announce four new and updated road bike routes, based on feedback from our 2016 riders. We're also adding on to the success of last year's mountain bike demos by expanding our mountain biking offering at this year's 2017 Maine Lobster Ride on July 23rd in Camden, Maine.
The updated routes follow winding country lanes and hug Maine's rocky coast, past lighthouses and lupines, and riders can choose from four distances: 15, 38, 62 or 100 miles.
The mountain bike option takes advantage of the extensive trail network at the Camden Snow Bowl. Riders can choose between guided or self-guided route options, and use rental bikes from Sidecountry Sports. We'll also be offering mountain bike skills clinics for riders looking to improve their technique on the trail. Cost is FREE with a suggested donation of $25 at the ride (cash or credit cards accepted) and advanced registration is strongly recommended.
After the ride, enjoy lunch and a fun party including Lobster Rolls (other options available), a Beer Garden featuring Maine Beer Company brews, and live music from local band, Just Teachers. If you'd like a second lobster roll, or if you have friends or family who would like to join you at the after-party for lunch, please purchase additional lunch tickets. In addition, hot breakfast will be available for sale before the ride from the West Bay Rotary Club.
The Maine Lobster Ride is the Bicycle Coalition of Maine's biggest fundraiser of the year. It directly benefits our education, advocacy, and outreach programs that help make Maine better for biking.
Take advantage of early-bird pricing and register today for the ride that Bicycling Magazine called one of the Top 10 Centuries in the country.
If you can't ride, consider volunteering to help make this event a success (or select a volunteer position that allows you to ride for free).
