Call
Your
Legislators To
Help Pass The
Traffic Safety
Education Act
|
It's been
a rough week for cyclists and pedestrians in Maine,
and a lot of
people are
asking us what
they can do to
help change
things for the
better.
Here's
what you can
do: call
your
legislators
and urge them
to support LD
1130,
the Traffic
Safety
Education Act.
The bill,
which will
ensure that
every student
in Maine
receives an
hour of
traffic safety
education each
year starting
in second
grade, got a
9-4
"ought-to-pass"
recommendation
in committee
and will come
up before the
full
Legislature
for a final
vote soon.
So if you want
to help make
bicycling and
walking better
- and safer -
in Maine, call
your
legislators
(every town
has both a
Representative
and Senator)
and let them
know you need
them to vote
for the
Traffic Safety
Education Act.
You can find
legislators'
contact
information here, but if you'd like some help, email
us here at
the Coalition
and we'll help
put you in
touch.

is only ten
days away, on
Sunday, June

Freeport,
Maine, and
there's still
plenty of time
to register to ride.
We also need
volunteers to

We're looking
for help in
every area,
including:
- Pre-event
setup
- Route
setters
- SAG
vehicle
drivers
- Ride
leaders
- Rest stop
attendants
I n addition to the
satisfaction
of actively
supporting
this amazing
event,
volunteers at
the Women's
Ride get a
cool t-shirt,
free lunch,
coffee and ice
cream! But whether you're riding or
volunteering,
the Women's
Ride is always
a lot of fun
for everybody.
Sign up here to volunteer! And if you have friends
who might
enjoy the
experience,
please forward
this link to
them.

What
we're reading
and watching
|
In its early history, the bicycle was celebrated - and
condemned -
for disrupting
social
barriers and
bringing the
classes
together.
