Welcome to the weekly status update for the belay research team.

Last week, we completed the following tasks:
- A longer term strategic planning review was conducted, considering how user identity (as attested to by third parties via OpenID) should mix with belay. Scenarios and user stories are being designed based on these discussions, and we will likely start implementing these in the near future.
- Belay instances now actively announce when their window closes to the station, which eliminates a defect where clicking on the "open" link in the station after a site had been closed would not work for several seconds.
- An awkward timing bug which was causing communication to fail between belay instances was found and fixed. This heisenbug had been a source of confusion for some time during demos, and was made worse by reducing the heartbeat frequency on cap tunnels.
- More selenium tests relating to the functionality of the emote application were implemented.

In the coming week, we plan to:
- Finish the high priority clean-up tasks before pushing the latest code to appspot.
- Start working on our new ideas of infusing attested identity into belay.

Until next time,
