Hey all, I'm new to using rclone and it could very well be that I've set up something wrong. So I'd appreciate any help I can get.
Also, if rclone/plex logs would help please let me know how to get them (at what level) so that i can attach them!
So when trying to play something on plex, where media is on a crypt mount I get unusable speeds. It takes anywhere from 1-3 minutes to start a video. Sometimes it just doesn't work. Also, if episode 1 works, if i go onto the next episode the duration will show as 2 hours instead of its actual 22 minutes.
PS as a test, I copied one file over locally and used plex to stream it. Starting the stream took about 8-10 seconds. So this shows me that:
a. rclone mounting is still significantly slower than local files, which means somewhere in my setup there's something wrong
b. my baseline/goal is a 10 second start for some reason. I'll live with that though. Until maybe i can check if there's something wrong with my vps.
Just adding my $0.02. Brand new Samsung UE65AU9000 with a brand new install of the Plex app, it works great apart from the menus (and even, annoyingly, entering pins on the switch user menu) being unbearably slow. I think I may have to plug the MiBox back in to use Plex which is a shame as it was nice to have it all built in.

However, if a user has a large database, it is common for the user to encounter loading errors. In this regard, if you are experiencing the same Plex slow loading library issues as other users, we have gathered some solutions.
Plex allows you to create Plex users who can connect via multiple devices. As a result, if your current Plex account is linked to another device, try disconnecting the account as there may be a device conflict causing libraries to load slower than usual. When multiple devices are connected to the same Plex server, playback and library loading issues can frequently occur. So, disconnect any unused devices and retry running the Plex.
When I connect my two external HDDs the system slows down to halt. Simply starting terminal takes about 45 seconds and gfx rendering is frame-lagging. If the drives are removed and the pc restarted it is responding as it should. fstab shown below:
This has now been resolved, on second examination, there was another variable. When I was plugging in the HDDS I was also unplugging the monitor which was causing the apparent frame lag and slow response from Ubuntu.
ConcourseIn the past couple of years, the complex has increased the number and size of banners hanging in its covered concourse. Especially notable has been the addition of one at the Curtis Street entrance that proclaims what the complex is and lists the main tenants.
To further enhance the concourse, consideration should be given to moving the handful of disjointed artworks, which seem to be afterthoughts and not really related to the complex either aesthetically or thematically.
A radical solution would be the addition of a driveway running along the western side of the complex from Champa Street to Arapahoe Street, allowing people to drop off passengers in a more relaxed manner on that underused side of the facility.
ParkingAs anyone who attended an arts complex performance during the March 17-19 weekend can attest, parking was a mess. People waited in a long, slow-moving line stretching down Arapahoe Street and around the corner along Speer Boulevard, and many were late for their shows.
An immediate solution would be persuading more people to use the adjacent light rail or park in the often underused, sometimes empty Colorado Convention Center garage. It is directly across Champa Street from the arts complex and connected by an easily accessible foot bridge.
Parking garage exteriorIn the long term, the arts complex garage will need a face lift. Its bare, functional look might have been adequate at one point, but it is wanting now, particularly considering it will be diagonal from a proposed Four Seasons Hotel.
