Niko Bellic is a man who has had it tough. All his life he has known violence both before and during the events of Grand Theft Auto 4 and has had to make many tough decisions during his life in Liberty City. He just needs someone in his life to sit and talk to, and while there are friends to hang out with, Niko wants a girl in his life to show him love.
Thankfully, GTA 4 lets you have girlfriends, which is a mechanic that makes its return from San Andreas. There are five potential girlfriends in the game that Niko can date. Some are unlocked by progressing through the story while others have to be met on the in-game internet.
Updated December 15, 2023, by Sean Murray: GTA 4 girlfriends aren't like real girlfriends who will leave you for playing too much GTA 4. But we won't judge your commitment to a digital woman. That's why we've updated this guide with formatting tweaks and more links to other helpful GTA 4 topics.
Eventually, though, you'll discover Michelle is actually a government agent named Karen during The Snow Storm mission for Elizabeta, and she threatens to arrest and deport Niko if he doesn't help them.
Once Niko starts to work with Patrick "Packie" McReary, he will meet his sister Kate. Kate is a saint in a family of sinners as she is the only McReary sibling who doesn't partake in the criminal lifestyle.
Kate can no longer be dated after you complete the That Special Someone mission, where Niko finally deals with Darko. This is because her fate is decided based on what Niko does about the deal with Dimitri.
The addition of the internet in GTA 4 not only adds new things to see but also lets Niko date up to three different girlfriends. Unlike the storyline girlfriends in GTA 4, they also have bonuses that they can give you to help out.
While it does seem like you can date any girl on the website Love-Meet.net, there are only two girls you can actually meet through it, with the third found on another website (more on that later).
Once you do so, message the girl you want to date and wait 12 to 24 hours in-game to hear back to plan out your first meeting. The time and day of the date will be added to the organizer on your phone. Be sure to take her to a place she likes and ask her to come inside to establish a relationship.
The first girlfriend that is found on Love-Meet.net is Carmen Ortiz who operates under the username, SOBOHOE. Carmen is a fan of the nightlife, and she loves to live in the moment and party until she drops.
The other girlfriend in GTA 4 that's found on Love-Meet.net is Kiki Jenkins, known online as LAWCHICK. She is a lawyer by trade but has simple tastes, not only when it comes to men, but life in general.
However, to date her, you have to find her under the women seeking men section on the website craplist.net under the username LIBERATED WOMAN, which is also her username on Blog Snob.
What's interesting about Alex is that she writes about her dates on her blog, where she refers to Niko as the "Mysterious European." What she writes will give you an idea of whether she liked the date or not.
The examples in this guide are meant to introduce you to the basics of citing sources using Kate Turabian's A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (seventh edition). Kate Turabian created her first "manual" in 1937 as a means of simplifying for students The Chicago Manual of Style; the seventh edition of Turabian is based on the 15th edition of the Chicago Manual. For types of resources not covered in this guide (e.g., government documents, manuscript collections, video recordings) and for further detail and examples, please consult the websites listed at the end of this guide, the handbook itself or a reference librarian.
Whenever you refer to or use another's words, facts or ideas in your paper, you are required to cite the source. Traditionally, disciplines in the humanities (art, history, music, religion, theology) require the use of bibliographic footnotes or endnotes in conjunction with a bibliography to cite sources used in research papers and dissertations. For the parenthetical reference (author-date) system (commonly used in the sciences and social sciences), please refer to the separate guide Turabian Parenthetical/Reference List Style. It is best to consult with your professor to determine the preferred citation style.
Indicate notes in the text of your paper by using consecutive superscript numbers (as demonstrated below). The actual note is indented and can occur either as a footnote at the bottom of the page or as an endnote at the end of the paper. To create notes, type the note number followed by a period on the same line as the note itself. This method should always be used for endnotes; it is the preferred method for footnotes. However, superscript numbers are acceptable for footnotes, and many word processing programs can generate footnotes with superscript numbers for you.
Ibid., short for ibidem, means "in the same place." Use ibid. if you cite the same page of the same work in succession without a different reference intervening. If you need to cite a different page of the same work, include the page number. For example: 2Ibid., 50.
In most cases, you will be citing something smaller than an entire website. If you are citing an article from a website, for example, follow the guidelines for articles above. You can usually refer to an entire website in running text without including it in your reference list, e.g.: "According to its website, the Financial Accounting Standards Board requires ...".
It will usually request key details about a source -- like the authors, title, and publish date -- and will output these details with the correct punctuation and layout required by the official Turabian style guide.
The Turabian citation style is largely based on the Chicago style, but aims to be simpler for students who are not writing for publication. It was created by Kate Turabian, and the rules are published in the Manual for Writers.
Like Chicago, there are two ways to cite sources in Turabian style: 'notes and bibliography', and 'author-date'--your instructor will usually tell you which one to use. More information about the differences between the two can be found in the official Citation Quick Guide.
Turabian is mostly used by students studying the humanities, literature, history, arts, and also across the sciences. Students in these areas looking to manage and correctly cite their sources will use a Turabian Citation Generator to aid them.
Every academic field will recommend using a tool to record the sources cited in your writing. A citation generator like MyBib can store this data, and can also automatically create an accurate Turabian style bibliography or reference list from it (including the necessary in-text citations too), which should be appended to your document.
The generator will produce a formatted Turabian citation that can be copied and pasted directly into your document, or saved to MyBib as part of your overall bibliography or reference list (which can be downloaded fully later!).
Kate Gosselin has focused all of her time on being a full-time mom of eight, but now she is ready to give love a chance again. Kate's dating skills have become rusty after being single for over a decade, so she has enlisted the help of expert matchmakers Rachel DeAlto and Adam LoDolce to guide her through the ins and outs of dating. The matchmakers will help Kate find her perfect match and will set her up on dates with 10 bachelors. The dates include two activities: one that's fun and interactive and another that is more personal and will help the couples get to know each other on a deeper level. The process helps Kate learn how to trust again and be open to new things.
Since Chicago style is typically used for manuscripts that will be published, The Chicago Manual of Style does not offer many guidelines for paper formatting. This is because publishers each have their own house styles and authors must follow these exactly. There are a few areas where guidance is offered.
The first style is the notes and bibliography style. This style uses footnotes or endnotes to point readers to the original source of the information. This style also often provides a bibliography at the end that readers consult, but this is not always necessary if sources are cited in full in your text.
The second style is called author-date style. This style uses parenthetical in-text citation to let readers know to look at the reference list at the end to find the full citation for the information you have used.
Finally, your readers might want to build on your research. Citing helps them to know where you found your information when readers do their own research. They might even cite you if you formally published your work. You can read more about how to integrate the research of others into your paper in Chapter 7 of the Turabian manual or Chapter 13 in the CMOS.
Full Bibliography
If you are including a full bibliography, you might choose only to use shortened citation forms in your footnotes or endnotes. You may also use the shortened structure that omits the title for sources that you cite several times in a row.
Citation Examples
Here are a few examples of citation structures in the notes and bibliography style. For more examples and information on this style, check out the EasyBib Chicago footnotes guide.
Additional Examples
Here are more examples of parenthetical in-text citations and their full citations as they would appear in the reference list. There are even more guides linked at the bottom of this page.
