Terumut U'Maasrot + Mincha B'zman

Dear BKOA Members,

 

a.       Mincha services: Recently we are encountering difficulties in having a Minyan for Mincha B’zman. In a shul with 250 families we cannot allow this to happen. This week Mincha will take place at 6:50pm.

I urge you to make a special effort before Rosh Hashana and strengthen that Minyan.

b.      Terumut U'Maasrot: I was asked by few families to send a reminder about the procedure of Terumut U’maasrot. Please review the explanations in the enclosed file and the procedure below.

Hafrashat Terumut U'Maasrot

1.  Assemble each type of produce separately. [If you're only separating one type of produce, omit the words "כל מין על מינו" from the following verses.]

2.  Separate a little bit more than 1% of each type of produce.

3.  Say the following:

 

If you are taking Terumut u'maasrot in a sure case of Tevel, meaning that you are certain that trumot u'maasrot wasn't done to this produce before,  then:

 

First say…

ברוך אתה ה' א-להינו מלך העולם אשר קדשנו במצותיו וציונו להפריש תרומות ומעשרות

If it may have been taken before, and you're doing again just to be sure, start from here:

Then you say the 'nusach':

יותר מאחד ממאה שיש כאן, הרי הוא תרומה-גדולה בצד צפונו, כל מין על מינו.  אותו אחד ממאה שיש כאן ועוד תשעה חלקים כמותו, בצד העליון של הפירות, כל מין על מינו, הרי הוא מעשר-ראשון. אותו אחד ממאה שעשיתיו מעשר-ראשון – עשוי תרומת-מעשר, כל מין על מינו.

Next,  you must take a designated 10 shekel coin (put a piece of masking tape on it so that you know that you are using the same coin and set it aside. ) This coin can be used over and over again--100 times since it is enough to transfer the holiness of the maaser sheni on to a prutah, which is the equivalent to 10 agurot.

(When you have used the coin 100 times, you can transfer the kedusha on to a tablespoon of sugar

 One does it by saying:

 

פרוטה חמורה של מעשר שני שבמטבע זו ישאר מעשר שני, והמותר של מעשר שני וכן הרבעי שיש בה יהא מחולל הוא וחומשו על כף סוכר זו.

 Then you dispose of the sugar by pouring it down the sink.)

 

Next you say the following bracha (providing you are sure it wasn't ever done to this produce before, and providing you're sure it's the produce of years – 1,2,4,5 of the seven year cycle):  

ברוך אתה ה'  א-להינו מלך העולם אשר קדשנו במצותיו וציונו על פדיון מעשר שני.

And then you say the following 'nusach:

ומעשר שני בצד התחתון של הפירות,כל מין על מינו, ומחולל הוא וחומשו על פרוטה במטבע שייחדתיה לחילול מעשר שני.

If you're sure it's the produce of the 3, 6 years of the 7 year cycle, then just say:

ומעשר עני בצד התחתון של הפירות, כל מין על מינו.

If you aren't sure which year of the cycle the produce belongs to – say this:

ומעשר עני בצד התחתון של הפירות, כל מין על מינו. ואם צריך מעשר שני – יהא מעשר שני בצד התחתון של הפירות,כל מין על מינו, ומחולל הוא וחומשו על פרוטה במטבע שייחדתיה לחילול מעשר שני.

If you are taking fruit from a tree in its fourth year, there is an additional bracha that should be said:  [If you aren't sure if the fruit is from the fourth year, omit the blessing, and skip directly to the following bracha:]

ברוך אתה ה' א-להינו מלך העולם אשר קדשנו במצותיו וציונו על פדיון רבעי.

Then say the following 'nusach':

פירות ְרבַעי ִיהיוּ מחללים הם וחומשם על פרוטה במטבע שייחדתיה לחילול מעשר שני ורבעי . 

 

After doing this, double wrap the one percent plus and throw it away in a respectful fashion (meaning put it a double plastic bag and place it in the garbage.)  If it is liquid which is being separated, it can be poured down the sink.
