I have been puzzled for many years as to why Hashem asks Avrohom why Soro laughed. Surely this is loshon horo?

We’ve discussed a similar and very related topic on this forum before (2011).

Strange shalom bayis lessons from HaShem, started by Doniel Levy – 8 posts 5 authors

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/beisparsha/0NiS-gOwFco

including a discussion on why HaShem didn’t just rebuke Sarah Himself directly, why Avraham needed to know, and a word doc DT from Shemaya Ormonde. I think it’s all related. Ayim shom.

NB Yaakov, this was your answer!:

heard an interesting answer for this this morning from Rav Nissan Kaplan (mir)
it was actually mussar for avrohom - if he had instilled the correct level of bitachon in his home then Soro would have believed 100% and then not laughed.

It occured to me that both questions don't start according to the Rambam in Moreh Nevuchim (1:18, 2:42) that the מלאכים came to אברהם in a prophetic vision, and the davening to stop the destruction of סדם was also during this vision. It seems that אברהם only wakes up from this vision in פרק יט פסוק כז, and then sees the smoke rising from the burning cities (these פסוקים are very difficult for the Ramban who argues, as we are told that אברהם wakes up without any recording of him going to sleep).

According to this, Soroh never actually laughed in real life, so loshon horo is not relevant.
