Hey Everyone,
I think I have dug up about as much info as I can...
There are less than 3 weeks until the
2014 WUCC (World Ultimate Club Championships) from 2 to 9 August in Lecco, Italy. I don't know about you, but I'm getting excited!!! (
Even though I'm not going to be able to get there to watch and cheer the Chinese and Aussie teams after all...)
Unfortunately, it appears (
AFAICS) that WFDF still haven't released
the WUCC 2014 tournament schedule, or if the Captains have it, it still hasn't been made
public at any rate... I've been reading that WFDF will release the game schedule rather than the WUCC Committee.
Nevertheless, there is good news for those who want to see WUCC games though, as
Skyd Magazine has the rights to live stream about 45 games from WJUC (World Juniors 20-26 July also in Lecco, Italy) and WUCC. That's about 3 games a day.
http://www.worlds2014.org/skyd-magazine-at-wucc/CUUP (China United Ultimate Party) will represent the Chinese Mainland in the Mixed Division, and
Hong Kong Junk will also be there. Another team we are fairly familiar with in the WUCC 2014 Mixed Division are 2012 Shanghai Open Champions,
Shiok, from Singapore who are in hot form after winning the Singapore Nationals a couple of weeks ago.
Last Stand, from South Korea, round out the Asian contingent. It will be good to see if the Asian teams (
I'm not thinking of Japan here as they are already in the top level of the sport) can match it with the big teams from the top Ultimate countries.
The Mixed Division has about 46 teams and will be super competitive. Let's hope CUUP and Junk both play at their best and claim some big scalps! See the CUUP team roster below.

See all the teams in all WUCC Divisions here: http://www.worlds2014.org/wucc/tournament/divisions/The CUUP team for this WUCC has been organised by Ken Su of Beijing under the auspices of the
Ultimate Association of China (WFDF affiliated). There's plenty of experience in the team, but there are are also some young bloods in there too.
Thanks especially to Ken Su, Alicia Lui, Seven Xu, Amy Smith and Sei Xue for their assistance in the formulation of this table.

It's good to see some of the young kids from YK Pao School Ultimate program rising up under Miranda Knowles' tutelage and representing their country at this level.
There seems to be a real momentum building in Chinese Ultimate now.
It's not a torrent, but the numbers of teams, clubs and players is
increasing faster than ever. More schools and (mostly Sports) universities are getting Ultimate programs going.
With the IOC provisionally recognising
WFDF last year, and the National Olympic Committees in countries like the
USA and
Japan recently recognising the national level Ultimate bodies there, I wonder if China might also soon head in that direction...? Probably not while they focus on Table Tennis, Diving and Badminton...? In fact, with the way I see Soccer being run here, I hope they stay away from Ultimate for a while yet.
The Hong Kong Olympic Committee has already done so though.
