Demos using 12.1.0.1

The Demos in the book are using version 12.1.0.1, but Oracle had released 12.1.0.2. How does that affect the demos?

The numbering would indicate that 12.1.0.2 is simply a patch set (bug fixes) but it does include some new features, most notably the in-memory option. See https://blogs.oracle.com/imc/entry/oracle_database_12c_release_1. However, the demonstrations in the book are not impacted. Note that the latest version of the virtual machine used in the demonstrations is loaded with 12.1.0.2. See http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.html.

Hi Iggy,

My name is Alain and I am a bit new to Oracle. ...I have managed to load it on my windows system and there seems to be an issue trying to connect the hr schema( Please find the snapshot attached.).

I have done some research on the internet to try and resolve this but to no avail.

maybe you might have some insight on this and know what to do in this particular instance.
