Hi All,

Farmer David Peterson from Maplewood Gardens has invited our group to come out and visit his maplewoods for a sap gathering and syrup making experience.  It has been a slow season so far with cold temperatures and deep snow.  He predicts that this week will be better with the higher temperatures towards the end of the week.

I will be going out there next Saturday, April 2nd.  Please let me know if you would like to go and we can plan to car pool.  Dave starts collecting sap betewen 8-9am and boiling by 11am.  It takes about 45 minutes to get there, so I would like to leave Stevens Point around 8am on Saturday.  I can take 3 people in my car.  I'll bring ingredients to whip up some sourdough pancakes!

Dave also welcomes folks to visit on this Thursday, March 31st.  I can't go on Thursday so you will have to coordinate your own transport.  There is a chance of rain on Friday and Saturday so Thursday might be the best.

It would actually be better for some people to go on both days so everyone can participate, rather than having a big group with more standing around and watching.  Although it is really an awesome sight watching Dave dance around the boiler, checking the sap levels, fighting back the foam, and listening for when the syrup is finished!

Please let me know if you would like to go on Thurs or Saturday and I can give you directions or plan to ride together.  Email this list or give me a call.  Invite a friend to come along too.

Cheers,

John
