I just purchased a Logitech C920 webcam to use with an external monitor for my Windows 11 laptop. The video works great, but the microphone isn't working. Zoom detects the webcam microphone and will use it as its audio source, but the result is silent. This is true both using the Test Microphone function in Settings as well as in a meeting. The webcam microphone works fine with the Windows Sound Recorder app, so it's not a hardware issue. Any suggestions for how to make it work in Zoom?

When working in the minimum project, setting it from Ultra to Very Low caused it to take exactly one picture and permanently freeze, then going into the symptoms I have seen before. I am loading some substantial libraries (Mirror, PlayFab) in my real project so it probably never had a chance to grab the first frame. It appears pretty well established throughout various forums that macOS Monterey is not overly compatible with external webcams for certain applications. I.e. What works? Zoom does, Photo does, etc. What doesn't work? MS Teams, Facetime.
This was not an issue with Big Sur as I understand it. It was recognised in the BETA version of Monterey but not fixed before deploying. I'm not faced with downgrading back into Big Sur or earlier. OR, Apple get back to me (us) on when this issue will be fixed??
What happens is that when I reboot, either in regular or safe mode, the webcam works. After a while, usually after sleep mode, the webcam stops working. Both Zoom and FaceTime recognize that the camera is there, but the camera does not turn on and the video is black.
Is the hub a self powered hub? What brand and model is it? OWC (MacSales.com) have several hubs which are known to work with M1 Macs. You might contact their Customer Support and see what model they have will work with your particular hardware, needs and budget.
Also, the Canon EOS webcam utility works on Monterey (I use it with a Canon EOS RP). The Canon camera utility works with Zoom, Meet, and Skype but I seem to recall someone saying that it doesn't work with FaceTime (I know that it does't work as an input to QuickTime video recording).
It is connected via a hub. And you're exactly right.. I've tried to be careful not to say it doesn't work.. because it does sometimes when I do exactly as you say - restrart with it connected. It's just not reliable that it will be there when needed.
Getting a strange behaviour in that when used with Teams, white balance is off and overall there's about a second delay with the camera from moving, to seeing the change on-screen, but if I open the FaceTime app, the camera is perfect; no lag whatsoever.
My Logitech C615 not working with Monterey 12.2. It only works right after the restart. It is connected via LG monitor over USB-C. I have Dell with windows installed, everything works fine with the exact same setup.

Just installed latest Monterey (12.2) on MacBook Air M1. My Logitech C615 is still NOT not working. I get black screen with FaceTime and with Zoom until I restart. Then it works until MacBook goes to sleep and I have to reboot AGAIN. Also tried sudo killall VDCAssistant, as drbhayes suggested. No success. Any other ideas?
