Hey everyone,
So lots of folks are still asking about The Beet and are interested in a bulk food buying club. The last news was the idea of having the new location be at the Montessori school, but after some discussion with folks who work at the school, it seems like the logistics would be somewhat difficult to work out. As of right now I picked up the majority of the food from the Zodiac and it is at Lee's house. I have purchased all of the flour (Cheryl, I owe you some $$!) and maybe we can work out a day to liquidate these goods and pay Cheryl back. I would rather not have a ton of random folks coming to Lee's house, and would prefer if it was just the beet-core people coming over on one specific day. There are black beans, chickpeas, quinoa, sugar, and maybe some other stuff. I also have the scale.
Based on the fact that we've been quiet as a group, I'm getting the feeling that people on the beet-core list are burned out or feel like temporarily taking a break from all this bulk food stuff. However, I know there are still a lot of people who want to buy bulk food. So my thought is to send out an email to the main Beet email list and Facebook friends to see if there are other people out there interested in taking the lead in ordering bulk food, collecting money, etc. Since we never got a separate bank account, I think it can be up to the new people how the want to arrange the money situation, if they want to pay up front, have people drop off money like with did with Cheryl, or whatever.
I feel like we have gained a lot of valuable information in the past few months and can share it with whoever is interested in becoming the new order-person (e.g. potentially limiting the amount of food people get to large amounts of bulk so we don't have to spend all our time weighing out little bits of food. After all, there should be a reason why you are buying in bulk, and not buying one pound of something from OK Natural or Health Concern or wherever!)
That's the update!
