Dear colleagues,
I'm delighted to share that our review on pollinators and seed production areas has been published!
Facilitating pollination in native seed production: the why, the who, where, and how of designing seed production areas to support pollinators
I'm not sure if everyone can access the paper so I've attached a copy with this email too.
There is a recognition that we must restore ecosystems to address biodiversity declines and the climate crisis. Seed production areas are an important tool, ensuring quality seed for restoration. However, pollinators, which are crucial for seed production of most flowering plants, receive little consideration in the design of seed production areas, nor in restoration design, management and monitoring. Here we review the role pollinators play in SPAs and how we can design SPAs to facilitate pollinators, to meet the dual goals of ensuring quality pollination, as well as conserving pollinators and their habitats.
I'm sure this will be of great interest to all in the seed production and restoration sectors.
Special acknowledgement to the late Melinda Pickup, she has left an incredible legacy behind.
Sincerely,
Kit
