Native Bee Bootcamp is a brand new, 3-day field workshop offered July 17-19, 2026 at Duke Farms in New Jersey.
The course emphasizes field identification of Northeast US bees (with a focus on bumble bees to species, and solitary bees to genus) and builds practical field and microscopy skills in wild bee identification. This workshop will be of interest to anyone looking to sharpen their bee identification skills, implement non-lethal methods for bee research, or cultivate their curiosity about bees and pollinator-friendly gardening. The course is taught by Max McCarthy and Nick Dorian and builds on their approach to identification presented on watchingbees.com.
On-site lodging is available for participants and 30% discounts are available for students. A full description of the course and instructor bios are available here, and registration is open at this link. We hope you can join us! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Max (mwm...@sebs.rutgers.edu) or Nick (dorian...@gmail.com).
