All,
Here are more opportunities to attend bee identification workshops this spring. ESI is offering two workshops – The Andrena Assembly and The Bombus Bumble in May and June respectively. The Andrena Assembly is a 4.5 day workshop May 4-8, 2026 and focuses on the identification of Andrena and other mining bees in the eastern US with a focus on midwestern species. The cost of the Andrena workshop is $650.00 and you will be responsible for travel, lodging, and meals during the workshop.
The Bombus Bumble is a 2.5 day workshop June 1-3, 2026 and focuses on the identification of 24 species of bumble bee occurring in the Great Lakes Watershed and Eastern US, assessing habitat, and conducting standardized surveys using lab and field methods. The cost of the Bombus workshop is $325.00 and you will be responsible for travel, lodging, and meals during the workshop.
Both workshops will be hosted by the Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab on the Marian University campus in Indianapolis, Indiana. A tentative course schedule for each workshop is attached.
If interested, please send request to rj...@envsi.com and I will follow up with a few brief questions. We understand that costs can be a concern and we want to ensure this workshop is accessible to as many participants as possible. If cost is a barrier please reach out to me directly to inquire about the possibility of a discount or scholarship. Space is limited to 15 participants for each workshop and registration will close on April 17, 2026.
Other workshops coming in late summer and fall include:
The Lasioglossum Lobby – working to schedule in August
The Megachilidae Meeting – working to Schedule in September
The Colletidae Cantonment – working to schedule early 2027
The Bee Genera of Tallgrass Prairie and Eastern US – working for potential workshops this fall and early 2027
