Some news from Europe. Last year the European Commission has published the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/2188, establishing a science-based methodology to monitor pollinator diversity and pollinator populations across Europe.

As you can read the monitoring scheme is challenging on human capacity (taxonomy, fieldwork,...) and little time remains for training new people. Some countries have only a handful of people to do the work.
I'm only involved in building the taxonomic capacity at this moment through courses, workshops and helping in creating new identification keys. More work needs to be done on data collecting and streamlining data flows. By the end of the year we will see if we are ready for the challenge.
I look forward on hearing your thoughts on monitoring around 1800 sites spanning over 2 million km² repeated up to 8 times a year.
