New issue 101 by zolt...@geograph.co.za: Java date error from Garmin 60CSx
via GpsGate
http://code.google.com/p/beegis/issues/detail?id=101

Hi
I'm using Franson GPSGate 2.6.0.402.
You can see by the green icon on the screenshots that GpsGate is happy with
the USB connection to my Garmin 60CSx.
When I log the GPScoords to a file, using GpsGate, I get reasonable text
values in that file.

BeeGis, on the other hand sits waiting for input, or crashes with a date
error.
I'd ge grateful for some assistance with this, as I will be doing a
fieldtrip in the next week or so.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

See attachments.

Thanks & regards,
Zoltan

Can you attach a file of NMEA data that come from that GPS? It looks like
it is not able to parse the data date parameter for some reason.

My guess is date format in NMEA file is YY instead of YYYY

COuld be something to do with my locale??

Hi Again
Might have solved it.
In the GPS unit I needed to have changed the data stream from Garmin to
NMEA.
I found this "by accident" whilst researching alternatives.
If this is the problem, please accept my apologies - I've only had the
Garmin 60CSx for an hour or so, so still trying to find my way around it.
I can't test this right now but will do so in the next hours or so.

Rgds,
Zoltan

No apology needed. I keep my fingers crossed though. :)

Hi,
It's working.
The GPS interface settings on the 60CSx were on Garmin instead of NMEA, and
the Franson GpsGate software has to have Output set to Virtual Com
Port/Keep Fix

Thanks for your prompt response, and apologies for "sounding the alarm".

Kind regards,
Zoltan
