need help installing bedtools on mac os x

Hello,

I have been trying to install bedtools on my mac. I have the program downloaded but then when I enter the word "make" to instal the program, I get:

Isabel-Manleys-MacBook:~ tesscherlin$ cd bedtools-2.17.0/

Isabel-Manleys-MacBook:bedtools-2.17.0 tesscherlin$ make

-bash: make: command not found

Isabel-Manleys-MacBook:bedtools-2.17.0 tesscherlin$ 

Is there another way of installing bedtools on a mac?

The easiest way would be to install Bedtools using Homebrew[1]. Once you get Homebrew installed(one line command), you should be able to install Bedtools using:

$ brew install bedtools

Your problem is likely that you do not have development tools installed on your mac. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14671021/bash-make-command-not-found
